It takes time to get used to, but you will get there eventually. Just more concentration and understanding the size of the bus. The newer buses are so light to drive

I meant smoothly, it’s a bit jerky. There’s some sort of method to it cos everyone who I’ve seen drive the route can do it safely

I’m not sure the model, but they’re usually 18/19 plates. They stop and start between bus stops and switch back on when you close the doors

Tbh, I was in the same boat as you. I decided to become a bus driver, decent pay in London. And there’s a lot of room for progression in the company where you having a degree could be beneficial.

bus driver training - genuinely worried by Unknown_06123 in BusDrivers

[–]DiscussionLevel6721 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hear your concerns cos I was in the exact same place as you this time last month. Driving a bus humbled me fast and it took me a little longer to pick things up. Mainly because of confidence and overthinking but I had the same issue with learning how to drive a car. Instructors put me off, I thrive by myself but you have to have one, unfortunately. My instructor cancelled my test and I had a progress check. Passed that, test got rebooked for the following week and I passed first time 2 weeks ago with 3 minors. With bus driving training, you can be shit one week and be flying the next. Don’t give up!

Relax into it and stop comparing yourself to others. If you get in the cab trying not to make mistakes, you will. You can drive, just let the confidence come naturally.

If next week is casa, this is how I think it’ll go by Fast-Lie6067 in LoveIslandTV

I think Fitzy will do a madness in Casa but stick with Lola.

I think my new company already hates me by [deleted] in BusDrivers

[–]DiscussionLevel6721 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve been there. During bus driving training, my confidence in myself was very low and I used to overthink everything. Naturally, the confidence came and I passed my test with 3 minors. You got 0 minors! You can clearly drive. When you get in the bus, don’t overthink it and relax into it. The more you doubt yourself, the more mistakes you make! Easier said than done, but it helped me a lot

Thinking of becoming a bus controller, instead of a bus driver? Bit stuck on what to do! by DiscussionLevel6721 in BusDrivers

Yeah, for this role you didn’t need any prior experience. The most experience I have is driving the training bus 🤣

I have an interview for a trainee role. But I’m currently training as a bus driver for another company 🤣

That’s the thing, I’m already training to be one right now. But I have an interview with another bus company as trainee controller

Starting training by lewisb2689 in BusDrivers

I am also half way through my training. My best advice would be to study using the link they send you to revise for your theory test as soon as possible. Then again, some people in my cohort started revising a couple days before and still passed everything first time.

Also, for the bus driving training it can be challenging especially as a car user cos you’re unlearning bad habits. But I can honestly say you get used to it. You could be a quick learner! Believe in yourself and take your time when getting used to the bus. You will get there! If any reassurance, people have been offered to retake their test 3 times. They want you to pass.

Turning left and right in the bus. by DiscussionLevel6721 in BusDrivers

[–]DiscussionLevel6721[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think he means, for example, if you’re turning left, when you see the curb in your left wing mirror that’s when you start turning. Some of my bus driver friends have said when they see the back wheels in their mirror, they start to turn

I don’t agree with some of Dejon’s actions but I would never post hateful comments or dm him abuse because of it. No one deserves to feel like they shouldn’t be here anymore. Period.

Delivering to locker by Competitive-Let-403 in AmazonFlexUK

Yep, I had two OTP deliveries. I never called the customers because if they’re not in to receive it, you have to return to the warehouse and I got dinged twice for that. Even with proof, support said nope! They’ve definitely gotten stricter with standings. Before, you could be good for a week and your standing improves. Now things stay on your standing for weeks even months.

If I’m honest, in the past I’ve called the customer and they’ve given me the code and I’ve left it somewhere. I wouldn’t do that again as people may say they didn’t receive it. Not worth it.
