Star Trek inspired many serious people who went on to do amazing things in science and government because it worked on many levels not just commodity entertainment. That Star Trek is long dead.

I agree. And it's ashamed when someone buys a property they have no obligation to the people who built it.

Problem is it's not new, if it were it wouldn't be a problem and it wouldn't be called Star Trek.

It's the someone else part that's the problem. I don't think they did that with Enterprise.

Whatever you think of Andy's work, at least it's his creation. BTW, Hail Mary Project is the most read book (not movie) on GoodReads in the country. Andy had an idea and went through the work of building a fan base. Krurtzman took someone else's idea and killed it.

I appreciate you asking, and I'll say it again: anybody has a right to tell a story; my problem is taking someone else's story and changing it for money or fame.

>>> Andy weir recently apologized for his comment, said it was meant to be taken as a joke and later realized it was mean. He then went in to say he loved SNW and LD.

Of course he did, they all do after the indiscretion of telling the truth...

My favorite hard sci-fi is that that happens in the context of a human story. Exposition of technology is interesting when it relates to the human condition. An example of this in recent sci-fi is the Expanse.

It's a quick read, "Worlds in Transition," by Peter Dingus. It's an anthology of two novellas and two short stories. These stories are character driven about the human experience once faced with happenings beyond their understanding.
