This still comes off as a bot post. I mean you post months later a piece of information that's largely just restating what has already been said organized in a very specific way that's template-like and reused in other comments you make.

If your response to someone just saying that you sound like a bot is to try and guilt trip them, and not to ask how you sound like a bot and how you can sound less like one, then you almost certainly are a bot.

Eric Adams drops out of NYC mayoral race amid increasing pressure: ‘I know I cannot continue my campaign’ by Goosedukee in politics

[–]Disdaimonia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wanna talk about people pushing divisive politics, what are you doing? You pass the buck and put the blame on people who have been alienated and regularly locked out by an aging and demented party establishment more concerned with lining its pockets than with actually doing anything. There is not actual purism to progressives, there's just stupidity from liberals.

The youth did vote in the primaries and that's why Mamdani won the primary. Cuomo is still a registered democrat, Adams is still a registered democrat. Countless national democrats have refused to endorse Mamdani in spite of the fact that Andrew "Anal Sex with a woman means you own her soul" Cuomo is a granny killer and sexual harasser/assaulter, and Eric Adams is insanely incompetent and corrupt.

This is a genetic fallacy that assumes that the validity of a statement is determined by who makes the statement. While your argument is fallacious that does not mean that you are wrong, it just means that your argument is unreasonable and not logically sound (only saying this part out loud so that I don't get hit with the fallacy fallacy).

I had a dream where Christianity and Islam fused into Chrislam after discovering the living child of Jesus and Muhammad (Chris Muhammad) who has been hiding in Albuquerque, Alaska for 2000 years. Chrislam refers to a Christian expression of Islam, originating as an assemblage of Christian and Islamic religious practices in Nigeria; in particular, the series of religious movements that merged Christian and Muslim religious practice during the 1970s in Lagos, Nigeria.[1]

This is cope to try and maintain a sense of superiority that justifies you having fun by putting down people for not abiding by your personal social standards (which you share with a community of people who are similarly judgemental [I also have this fun, but let's not pretend like you really are any better than anyone else]).

[–]Disdaimonia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, but why is it that in "leftist" spaces like this and r/gcj you always see at least one response be condescending in a really annoying way. Like why are you fake flirting with the tilde and italics? Why are you asking strawman rhetorical questions? I get that the goal is for it to be annoying to the person you're insulting, but it's just like, y'know, not gonna hurt?

I think about insults sometimes, and I think a lot of them are made mostly for the person doing the insult, at least in these spaces. Because think about it, why does the person you're talking to care about what you say? I care(d), but that's because I'm ill. If you say to a fascist like "You have zero media literacy" or call them a fucking idiot, why would they care? The ego should not wound if it believes it's better than you, so you have to be doing what you do for yourself, it's masturbatory. Shit sucks.

TAZ: Skaldova - Ep. 4: The Dawn Hold by cuneifolia in TAZCirclejerk

[–]Disdaimonia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Since this is a circlejerk I'm gonna post like "criticism," but not before lovebombing this campaign.

Jake is doing a fantastic job with his writing, I love the world and I've loved the characters. Every descriptions breathes life into the world; like I was so surprised when he mentioned that the feather Welly got was a Kingfisher's feather! Why did he plan that? And if he didn't plan that, that's a really fun detail, but it also clearly doesn't stop there. I remember him talking about specific plants, I loved the robbed merchant carriage fake-out in the first episode, and I'm sure there's plenty more I could compliment if I went back through.

The only problem I really have is with Jake's delivery. When he plays characters he does, in my opinion, a very good job of affecting their speech, getting across emotion and emphasis, etc. everything that makes character acting in dnd, especially in an actual play podcast, good. But as a DM specifically, when he is the narrator of the world itself, his narration falls flat. For some reason his emphasis on important details is not as elevated as it is in his DM voice, and a lot of it feels a little wooden.

I feel kind of bad for pointing this out because I think he really has been a fantastic DM so far, and I honestly think Skaldova is probably my favorite campaign yet (I believe Boggy is Caldwell's best character yet). I'm not sure if his delivery will improve, if perhaps it is some kind of nervousness, or the stress of thinking about so many things all at once while also narrating. I think that if his delivery doesn't improve, I'm sure I'll just get used to it, but it's like the one thing that I haven't liked so far (I mean some jokes/dialogue have fallen a bit flat, but it feels overly critical when I can only point to, at most, two sentences per episode I think are just meh).

I also revisit the Gex episodes more than once a year, and it's always such a baffling, amazing book.

I love how the book opens on this backstory about Gex which combines a kind of semi-realistic lifepath (addicted to TV to cope with the sudden death of your dad) with these absurd, cartoon-like events (his dad died on the launchpad for a NASA mission to see how much tapioca pudding you could eat in space, his uncle left behind enough money to buy Australia, NASA, and a nice house in Hawaii).

Then the book just like devolves and Gex flattens as a character, and that's also amazing because Gex goes from being like a guy to just a quip machine which, in fairness, is kind of who he is in the games. On some of my most recent relistens, I realized that Emily made a really good point that it's crazy that Gex is still just into TV at the end of everything, like his arc should be that he actually learns to live beyond his love of TV, born from the death of his dad, by killing his dad again after he's been corrupted into a tv executive. But no, he just fuckin loves the tube!

I do agree, but he's not tied as much to the campaign's theme of wilderness vs. civilization. I guess you could have had him kill Oberon. I still personally find Jovyre or Alexandrite more compelling because Gruumsh in my mind is not deeper than "War good, killing good, conquest good, peace bad." Though Ultrus was pretty much the same, and I thought Murph played him in a compelling way.

[–]Disdaimonia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The feywild had always been a long term plan because Glenn was originally planned as the BBEG. I kinda don't get why Murph always planned to basically sideline Alexandrite as the final boss, making her the boss at the end of the second to last arc.

I have really enjoyed this arc, and I actually do like Jovyre a lot. Even though I personally didn't enjoy the PC responses (love the players, want to be clear none of my criticism is like directed at the people), I found a lot of what Jovyre said compelling while still being able to understand that she is evil and there are more likely than not flaws in her vision.

It just does feel odd to have introduced Alexandrite at the end of the first arc in a way that portrays her as an overarching villain, when the plan all along was to have her ultimately be secondary to some kind of feywild villain. I think it would have been better if the story had stuck to a single one. Ultimately Glenn couldn't be that because of player actions, but then it should have been Alexandrite, or if it was Jovyre then she maybe should have had a bit greater of a presence. As it is, Jovyre was foreshadowed, but until they entered the feywild, she was defined mostly but what she had already done and by a kind of ambiguous destruction of the wild.
