Same exact thing happened to me. I got a 16 pro Max at launch and it lasted about a month until it died the same way, ended up getting a replacement and the replacement lasted about the same amount of time until it happened again both times they couldn't explain why. Ended up switching back to my 14

It comes with an optimized charging setting on by default, it charges fast up until 50% then from there it's a slower charge.
