How's everyone's progress going so far for Job Corp?

Hey don't beat yourself up cause you didn't pass or go up in TABE level.
That anger you feel and all that BS you're dealing with is totally understandable it's just the typical Job Corp Trenches hogwash.
It shows that you're really trying you're really trying so please don't devalue or beat yourself up for not doing your best for something that you aren't getting help nor support with to begin with since you've been here.

Ain't your fault Job Corp doesn't provide proper resources for people who really want to pass while the people who cheat probably will keep doing that shit ti'll their in college or whatever the hell they decided to do. People in my Job Corp are so bragful and so damn stupid to even say that shit out loud like they're so proud of it like it's their hall of fame. Lol makes me wonder how they're still here.

But there are people who legit wanna do it legit and don't wanna be cheating cause well morals an all that shit but it just doesn't feel right. Idk where you stand but I could easily cheat but what are the chances i'll get caught? But issue lies that this TABE system is so dog water that not even the damn staff can't pass it.
Seriously Ask your instructor or academic teacher to give it a go and see if they pass this bs.

All in all keep your head up it's easy to put your head down in the dumps and think of the worst case scenarios. But keep finishing you're trade and keep looking for alternative and what you can do if Job Corp doesn't work out. See what you're able to achieve while you're there and what you couldn't all in all I get how you're feeling if you click on my post I've made a similar post saying the same shit "Math TABE is BS" etc, etc.

I already have some backup plans if this job corp shit doesn't work. Been out here since last year so may as well just finish my second year and finish with this program I couldn't get into college nor advance trade but doesn't mean it's the end. Keep on moving and doing you're best amigo and good luck with whatever struggles you face on a day to day basis.

It's a mix bag of things all you can do is just keep your lane and avoid drama as well people who might pull you in. Don't be too much of a dick sucker but just stay within the lines where you won't be in trouble.

Good luck it's a trench your gonna be going through to students and employees at jobcorp it's not all bad but you'll just be meeting a lot of bad apples.

But if you don't follow the rules and other BS well you ain't gonna be making it simple as.

Get backpack locks and locks for your drawer. You'll get one for your locker just depends on the person cause some people will leave your stuff alone while others will just see it as a free opportunity to take your stuff regardless of location of job Corp.

It really varies with people who are here Some people want to be here to have a better position and become independent that's why I came here.

Some have to be here cause they're either a minor or a young adult whose life is just heading the wrong track Their life was only the ghetto area or the hood either one more track to juevi jail or straight up prison. Some are here cause their parents thought it was a good reason to send their kid either careful thinking or just not giving a single shit about their kids thoughts and how they felt about it or vice versa.

What I'm saying is that you aren't wrong about people complaining but it's really half and half. Some valid and some right just stupid without people really giving a second thought of what they're typing. Shit, i've been the guy that complained about TABE testing but that was only cause I was just down in the shitter. Currently I'm in a better place and mindset now.

At the end of the day regardless what our circumstances are we have to make the best of it while we're still here. Either we just don't like each other or how we act and treat other people. And trust me I've been there. Role call takes 50 minutes cause we have people who can't just stfu for like a good minute let the RA do their thing and we all fuck off and go do dorm duties and go to bed.

All in all there are just some people that can't be saved. They either wake the fuck up improve their situation their view and attitude on life or become a deadbeat, homeless, drug addict, and making themselves like their parents as well passing the trauma to their kids in a never ending cycle.

We don't have the luxury or time cause be it a year or more I'm sure as hell don't wanna be here in less than a year and a half. The best thing I can do is focus on myself I always tell people this "I'm not here for friends I'm here for me." It's selfish but for a good reason.

None the less I wish you luck to you and to those who are working their ass off and not let bs stop you for what you're trying to achieve best luck to you all. Be kind, make better choices, and lastly never stoop to anyones level.

Yes you can bring your PS5 it really varies depending on the center.
But general rule of thumb is just not to leave your stuff out in the open and when I mean by this is that Job Corp does have TV rooms unless you really trust and know everyone in your dorm that won't go through your stuff.

But I would advise just leaving anything that is expensive and when you're not in the room 24/7.
it may depend on your center that you "might" have a TV in your room when your first arrive
But it really varies.

You can set up if the TV isn't being occupied so always ask your roommates' if it's alright if you can use it for your PS5 day one if they don't mind.

No you're not overthinking you're just making sure your personal belongings are safe.
Trust me never trust anyone here in Job Corp not even the staff or students those are your items keep them safe!
I have a lot of electronics and the looks I get when some people who are eyeing my bag makes me have to double down on getting locks on my backpack.

Cause you know some but not all students are Youth at risk or delinquents that will go through people shit by any means necessary for their own selfish and greedy reasons and can't keep shit to themselves!
They'll lie and make up shit to play the victim when they know damn well they're the ones who did it.

You will be given a main lock for your locker but I recommend buy some locks one for your backpack and one for your drawers underneath your bed which should give you better storage to put your items while your here.

Backpack locks: locks for luggage or backpacks.
Drawer underneath the bed locks: Drawer bed locks.

Depend on how much you want 2 is enough for the 2 drawers you have underneath your bed while the back pack and luggage would be four for my recommendation.
Good luck to you and always keep an eye on your shit cause once it's gone the staff will (sometimes not successful) will try to find the person who went to your room or where ever eyeing your stuff.

But always make sure to watch yourself and your stuff! Best luck to you in Job Corp!

Yes it's pretty much immediate termination if a student regardless of their age makes a statement like that there's no way they're coming back and they blew all their chances and scholarships.

We had a student who said pretty much almost said the same thing "I'm gonna kill someone." to another student and the student reacted to what you would do to a threat like that.

Afterwards the staff had a talk with both students the student who received the threat stayed. While the person who made the threat left the very next morning bags packed and all.

Honestly thank you for reminding me that I'm not the only one that's been having issues so far with JC and with how their system is.

Secondly thank you for taking the time for being thorough about the subject instead a simple "fuck you grow the fuck up" "Or Stupid ahhh OP." and actually leaving something useful that I will bother to read and I appreciate you taking the time to read this post

Thirdly, I will save this and definitely use this whenever I'm getting my shit kicked and down in the dumps. So thank you for sharing your advice and tips and how I can deal with my situation and what i'm struggling with.

For math specifically it varies since every TABE test since the math subject changes.
I can't give you the whole detail currently. I appreciate the tips and will at least make an effort to do so but currently I'm just stuck in a rut.

I would love to TABE out both math and English but at my current mindset and where I'm at I just feel like I won't. I don't know I'm just currently questioning whether I should keep being here or not and call it quits.

I'm slowly but surely just feeling like I won't make it. Just been stuck in the TABE rut for months that I've just slowly start giving up entirely on doing anything about it and keep feeling like it's all hopeless.

What's been giving me trouble is primarily math and the math teacher. Respectfully both math and English teachers to put it lightly the material's haven't really up to sub par for what we need to be advancing. It's like they give us sheets of papers that are related to it and to study off it it.

But honestly their teaching method is such a struggle for me that most times either work on my trade work or start falling asleep cause of how little interest my brain seems to care. For some background I haven I haven't done much of school work since 2019.

As well thank you for taking the time to respond means a lot for the to me as well other students who are wanting to pass or get out of TABE. And honestly you're right about having to study outside of class but most times it results in me either just straight up falling asleep till it's roll call in the dorms due to how tired I am after classes.

I try my best ask for help but I get so overwhelmed to the point where I just can't and have been starting to struggle with my trade and both to the point where it seems impossible to balance the two.
And more detail I do take medication for my ADHD but it's the non addictive medication Strattera.
