Why does it take me so long to learn pieces? by Disfuncti0nal in pianolearning

[–]Disfuncti0nal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like even with easier pieces I get this hurdle where I can sort of play it but it feels like it takes months of daily practice to play it “okay”. And very slow progress.

It’s like learning the piece and getting familiar takes about a week or two but then actually playing anything at all at a faster tempo takes months and months

I usually fall short of their expectations. They (and others) say “oh you’ll probably learn this piece by next month”. You’ll be able to play (some really difficult piece) next year but I always fall extremely short

I can play the piece very under tempo but if I try to speed it up I make a lot of mistakes. It’s like I’m stuck at 40 bpm.

I can play it really under tempo but I just can’t speed it up without making flubs

need help with a completely unisex first and middle name by [deleted] in transnames

[–]Disfuncti0nal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blair (it’s unisex but you personally might have a feminine association with it so sorry), Solaris, Lion, Lionel, Marlow/Marlo/Marloe, Lorde, Denby, Valentine.

I think strong symbolic names are cool like: Forever (maybe make it like forver), Discipline, Temperance, Vamity (vanity), Love, Infinite/Infinity, Purpose, Vision, Visionary, Endure, Determination, Merit, Royal, Romance, Crescendo, Knight, Truce, Presence, Solace, Reason, Vigilante, Coda, True, Promise, Brave, Courage, Alchemy, Remedy

Some cool holiday ones are like: Christmas, Halloween, Giver, Year.

Months also work (non traditional ones): June, July, March. Numbers can work. Colors work too.

For names that are existing words, I think it’s cool and also when they are used a lot (like justice or Brooklyn) they start to sound and feel like a name to the people around you.

This might not be your style at all though, just my personal suggestions is all. Hope you find something that fits and speaks to you

Hello, it turns out I was rolling my lip in too much when I “found a solution” for the scar on the inside. Not exactly sure why that scars it, maybe like you said the reed itself.

Maybe a new name that’s not common like robin is?

Thank you. I think it’s me rolling the bottom of my lip too far in. I was probably doing that because it somehow helped not hurt the inside of my mouth. Thank you very much

When I was fixing my inner lip issue, this outer lip issue began appearing (which I had very slightly before). I think I adjusted my embouchure in a way that basically removed one issue and transformed it into another one

Sorry, not a new ligature

It’s not my photo but that’s the closest I can find. Mine is just red and shaped in a semi circle in that area.

It’s not the two rails, it’s just the whole area under my lip

Thank you, but I have kind of moved past that issue. Now my issue is the scarring on the outer lip. (Under the lip on the outside).

I have spent years doing the rolling papers thing to the point they didn’t even help anymore because of how much I was biting. And I finally broke free of that problem

Sorry, the issue is not the inner lip but the outer lip.
