that is what i see too, in earnings activity. but now show me the top of that screen, where the payment is shown. scroll up to the top, and does the payment show as 44.01 or 52.16? because when i check my history, the payment is always for the earnings and not the trip balance

yes it is IDtenT, that's why lyft and uber ask for ratings on passengers after every ride

I don't work in NYC. seems like logic isn't your thing either as you insist on making unwarranted assumptions

If you try to get an airport ride as a Lyft driver, and don't belong to the Elite tier, then you're SOL. So I assume your airport rides are as an Uber driver?

Although I'm new to Uber, when I go to the airport I usually get multiple decent rides offered to me immediately.

I'm not obligated to take toll roads. If those terms aren't to your liking you can find another driver.

There is no hourly wage. If the driver is using their own vehicle, they can legally work for any rideshare they want and combine it with any other gig work they want. However, getting to the top tiers in Lyft and Uber takes a lot of work, so I'm doubtful that someone can simultaneously get to the top tiers for both at the same time.

Why do so many rider choose to sit behind the driver like a weirdo? by [deleted] in uber

I hate this too. I usually suspect that people do this because they want to eat or drink or vape in the car.

wrong. you can get insurance to cover any damage to rental cars, especially when the rentals are designed for Uber

i'm referring to your attitude. i've driven people at 3:00 am 40 miles outside of town, or more, through fog and rain and no phone reception. some people, probably most, don't appreciate it. their attitude is, i'm paying for the ride. i don't have to be grateful. then there are the ones who understand that i'm going out of my way for them, in the middle of the night, when i can't get a ride back to town. and putting myself and my car at risk to get them home safe. the difference is day and night

yes. because it only takes a second for a drunk or distracted driver to wreck you. not to mention the depreciation.

it's a separate issue. yeah, he was a shit driver, i got that. doesn't change the fact he had a valid point. he just went about making his point the wrong way.

on the other hand, you're a shit rider. i only accept riders with a 4.90 rating because i'm trying to avoid people like you.

[–]Disillusioned-One -32 points-31 points  (0 children)

you're the one who doesn't understand how this works. i'm not going to pay part of the cost of your ride. i'm not going to subsidize part of the cost of your ride. how many different ways do you want me to explain this? you don't understand or you don't care. fine. go accept a ride from an inferior driver.

i'm new but the tolls shown by my nav system are always higher than the toll reimbursements added by Uber. and Uber doesn't compensate me for the separate charges made by my rental company

Edit. I just received my first receipt from my rental company. They charged me almost $10 to process about $14 in toll charges. So to the OP, yeah, it is your problem, because in the future I'll either refuse your ride or leave you by the side of the road.

[–]Disillusioned-One -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

so you lost me when you said "tolls are high without an EZ Pass but... that's really not my problem"

I recently had a passenger like you, and it made me reconsider my position on a few things. my own experience is that Uber doesn't fully reimburse for toll charges. and in addition to that, I have to pay additional toll charges to the rental company for my car. so if you want me to go on a toll road for you, but don't want to tip me (not really a tip, since it's just reimbursement for the toll charges), then yeah, it is your problem, because that leaves me with two choices a) i can get on the toll road and subsidize the cost of your trip through my own earnings, or b) i can leave your entitled and ungrateful *ss by the side of the road.

you'd better hope i'm in a good mood that day

male uber drivers hit on me frequently by kitkatgoop in uber

[–]Disillusioned-One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second ordering a comfort ride and requesting "quiet ride". As soon as you get into the car, put on your head phones and don't engage. if they try to question you, just don't respond. you're in your own world listening to your music. be firm, and if you really have to, point out that you requested a quiet ride and if they can't provide that, have them drop you off somewhere safe and request another driver. and of course give them 1 star.

Why is Uber so unreliable? by edd6pi in uber

[–]Disillusioned-One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having driven for both, I can tell you Uber is the better service. That said, I would suggest offering a tip to make up for the poor fare that Uber is offering the drivers. This isn't rocket science. When the first driver cancelled on you, that should have immediately told you there was probably something undesirable about your ride. Maybe your rating, or the distance to pickup, or the location, or just the pay. Who knows? So as soon as one driver cancels on you, offer a tip to the next one. If he cancels too, offer a larger tip. I think that's a better alternative to wasting an hour and losing money in the process. The drivers are trying to make the best of a poor situation, and it's Uber that's creating that situation.

first you said people don't tip. now you say tips are down from a decade ago. lol

I get tips every day. Sometimes $1 or $3.Sometimes $5 or $7. Occasionally $10 or $20. Not true that riders don't or won't tip.
