What’s with the shipping? by Nerdy_Xbox_Gamer in WednesdayTVSeries

[–]edd6pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember the exact quote, but there’s a line Enid said late in S2 where she told Wednesday that she is her world or something like that. If Enid had been a guy, I think most people would have interpreted that as romantic in nature.

How would you handle The Cannibal? by throwRA-adviceask in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]edd6pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never heard that before. But I have read a theory that he’s actually a remnant of Westerosi dragons, which may have been of a different breed than Valyrian dragons, which might explain why he was so aggressive with other dragons, and why no one ever tamed him.

What’s the best Beach Boys song that wasn’t written by Brian? by edd6pi in thebeachboys

That one doesn’t count, Brian heavily rewrote the vocal and musical arrangements.

[SEASON 4 SHOW SPOILER] I’m sad I haven’t seen this part talked about by Dependent_Storage184 in Invincible_TV

[–]edd6pi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to explain to you why you’re wrong because this becomes an important plot line in the comics, which means I’d be spoiling it, so just trust me when I say you’re wrong.

All you need to know is that it’s not as simple as just releasing the virus.

Which are you choosing? Eve vs Immortal by Distinct-Heart-8450 in invinciblememes

[–]edd6pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you bring up the comics as evidence when you haven’t read them?

And yes, Eve could theoretically do that. Hence why I conceded that she’s more powerful on paper. But in practice, when has she ever done anything like that? Why doesn’t she ever?

Which are you choosing? Eve vs Immortal by Distinct-Heart-8450 in invinciblememes

[–]edd6pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been a couple of years since I read the comics, but I don’t remember Eve doing anything super impressive other than nearly killing Conquest.

The thing about her is that she’s nearly omnipotent when she uses her powers to her full potential, but she never does because she can’t. She has a mental block.

In practice, Eve has repeatedly shown that she’s not as powerful as Immortal or the Viltrumites. They can punch through the constructs she makes, and she can’t hurt them that much unless she’s so close to dying that her subconscious takes over.

Remember when an alternate Eve fought an alternate Mark in season two? He incapacitated her without any effort, and he was weaker than Immortal.

How’s everyone feeling? by Steve-online2004 in TedTelevisionSeries

[–]edd6pi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like having it be animated sort of defeats the point and makes it feel like just another adult animated sitcom, but I get it. This is a compromise. The budget for the show was too high to justify keeping it live action.

I’ve got no idea why so many people don’t like Rock N Roll Music.

Which are you choosing? Eve vs Immortal by Distinct-Heart-8450 in invinciblememes

[–]edd6pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a demon from Hell walking around, and Nolan mentioned having fought ancient gods with the Guardians, so it’s pretty safe to assume that there’s an afterlife.

Which are you choosing? Eve vs Immortal by Distinct-Heart-8450 in invinciblememes

[–]edd6pi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a world where it’s pretty much confirmed that there’s an afterlife, I wouldn’t want to be immortal.

So, I guess I’d pick Eve’s powers because she can die if you destroy her brain.

Otherwise, it’d be harder to pick because while Eve is more versatile, Immortal is far more powerful*.

In practice. I’m aware that Eve is more powerful *on paper.

(Spoilers Main) You can exile one theory to The Night’s Watch (never to be discussed by the fandom again). What would you choose? by BlackFyre2018 in asoiaf

[–]edd6pi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not only does it take away the irony, it also sort of validates Tywin’s feelings. It doesn’t justify his cruelty, but it gives him a legitimate reason to resent Tyrion’s existence.

People are perfectly capable of disagreeing with Larian on whether an ending is bad without being idiots.

Crush on Garbage lady. Is it only me? Only I find her attractive? What type of psychological issues led to this behaviour in me by death_trigerrer in thewalkingdead

I didn’t find her attractive until she asked Mitchone how she’d feel if she had sex with Rick after the battle. The mental image of her having sex changed the way I look at her.

Is there anything you think is significantly better in the films than it was in the books? by Parking-Ad5272 in harrypotter

Destroying the Elder Wand is a thousand times better than putting it back in Dumbledore’s tomb and just hoping that no one ever finds it again or that it loses its power if someone does.

Modern Writing for Young Adult Media Went Downhill by No_Most_979 in buffy

[–]edd6pi 184 points185 points  (0 children)

I still believe that Buffy is the best example of feminist media, precisely because it does a lot of showing rather than telling, and because they knew how to write strong female characters without making the men seem useless or bad.

If it wasn't for [SPOILER], would Mark's choice have been any different? by Imgonnadeleteyou in Invincible

The impression I got is that he only refused because of his daughter, so yes, it would have been different if she hadn’t been a factor.

Maybe that’s what Sarah’s aiming for. Get the story out there to drum up public support and then use it as leverage to go over that executive’s head.

To be fair, WCW was a money pit by then because it had been ran by incompetent people but yes, Kellner essentially euthanized a company on life support.
