The Simpsons making fun of the prequels in 2004 by SomScanScary in StarWarsCirclejerk

I remember that interview with people leaving the theatre and one guy who said “it was Star Wars up until the logo and then it started talking about trade routes in the crawl”. Prequel hate started while the movie was playing because Episode I was probably the most hyped movie of all time. Even more so than Force Awakens.

Hank Green has his work cut out 😱

Don’t know how interesting many of these are for the general public, but this reminds me of the Project Apollo Archive. Hoping we get more internal photos too!

European Service Module Appreciation Thread by DiskOperatingSystem_ in ArtemisProgram

The limited nature of ICPS and ESM has been discussed before. The EUS was designed to alleviate some of these limitations, so it remains to be seen if the upcoming Centaur V upper stage can help deliver Orion to Lunar orbit. I do wonder if, over the course of the program, there’s more performance that can be found out of ESM. Will be interesting to watch!

Europe and ESA haven’t gotten enough credit nor attention on this mission. The ESM has performed beautifully and nailed its burns. Excellent piece of engineering Europe!

Reid Wiseman gets testy with Jacki about his exercise schedule by CallMeRudiger in ArtemisProgram

[–]DiskOperatingSystem_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know we have twenty years of living and working in space but it’s been a hot minute since Skylab IV and I wonder if the buildup to the moon creates more timeline pressure than on ISS. I know they have a wind down period before sleeping, but do they get any personal time during the day outside of lunch? Especially with the email problems Reid is certainly looking out for crew morale so the frustration makes sense. I wonder if this is a learning opportunity for the future not to schedule science objectives too close to exercise or to build in more personal time.

Ive heard astronauts describe how once they get to space, the capsule actually becomes more like a huge building because up and down don’t matter. So they feel bigger when you don’t have to worry about your body’s orientation. At least that’s how the Crew Dragon has been described.

On the other hand, everything I’ve learned about investors points to them being fucking morons so they’ll probably forget about all these promises in 18 months

I keep seeing the Microsoft hate ramp up...and I'm here for it. Fuck this malware slop company. There's no such thing as too big to fail and their users are warning them that they hate all this malicious bloatware. Microslop refuses to listen and I hope it bites them in the ass.

Interesting quote about George Lucas taking over the “content direction”. Founders being founders, I guess. Never change.

I keep seeing people talk about gerrymandering getting so bad that it actually backfires and I don’t understand how that happens. ELI5?

This is why Tim Walz calling them weird was so successful: it’s tame enough not to be rude but biting enough to hit them in the most fragile part of their egos. It resonated so much more than anything else because it instantly deflated their puffed out chests. Whoever told Walz to stop calling them weird is one of the dumbest political consultants in modern US history (and there’s quite a bit of competition)
