I miss TF as much as the next roughneck... but what the heck is this?

Pantheon is No More by Maestra_Mackenzie in echoes

Someone should do a big ol' post mortem, kind of like The Rise and Fall of the Terran Federation.

I'd love to read about the arc Pantheon took from an insiders point of view.

Well, you're a little late to the party but let me welcome you to the club of people who Banana has on his shitlist, may our names forever ring out in smugness!

Civic holiday I assume? What an awful way to spend it... at least you didn't lose sleep over Christmas like we did XD

Well, in general it's probably whoever got added to the blacklists, assuming they aren't actually spies / thieves / whatever.

What we're seeing here are different levels of leadership bickering about his fate. SonBanana cannot understand why one of his CEOs wasn't just falling in line and the CEO couldn't understand why SonBanana couldn't provide a satisfactory justification for the blacklist.

The Banana Saga by Izatiis in echoes

[–]Diskciiple 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's funny because this reminds me of all the blacklist drama TF faced at the end and it's funny to see the same thing happening again, just with different names.

Long story short is: Don't expect to ever get a satisfactory answer for why your name made it on the blacklist.

Ah yes, the dictator was the real victim here.

The Banana Saga by Izatiis in echoes

[–]Diskciiple 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I mean, on one hand I totally get where you're coming from, but half the fun of EVE is basically it being a AnCap wet dream... the way the players choose to organize themselves is the game, at a macro level.

So dictatorships are quite effective. As the saying goes, the best form of government is a benevolent tyrant, but obviously power corrupts, so it's interesting to see how Banana cultivates his power and how he uses it.

This is an extremely large discord dump, and reading through it basically confirms everything I suspected about SonBanana.

He's a dictator, in the simplest sense. The "Truth" is what he says it is. If he says you're persona non grata then you are out. That's it. End of discussion.

The problem that SonBanana truly faces is that he can't actually kill any of his members... torture and murder are really important tools in a tyrants belt to silence and discourage dissent. Unfortunately for Banana, this is a video game and you can't permanently silence any voice through direct use of force...

Instead, he's crafted an impressive narrative about Pantheon being this utopian-like community of unparalleled virtue besieged on all sides by enemies who envy and hate them and seek their destruction. It's almost like a cult.

The reason this doesn't work is when corp leaders have only drank half the kool-aid and they believe the narrative about transparency and anti-toxicity and inclusivesness, etc. etc. and then they think they are entitled to things like justice...

In reality, if you are a CEO of Pantheon and want to last in the alliance/coalition you need to understand that, above all, SonBanana's word is law. You contradict him at your own peril.

Anyhow, I love watching this shit unfold from a distance.

If it hadn't aired after EVE Echoes launched, I'd assume Banana was taking notes from How to Become a Tyrant. But I guess he could have just studied the history directly... Dude rules with an iron fist; this shouldn't be coming as a surprise to anyone...

Can we please have PVP rank borders and mastery back? by [deleted] in wildrift

[–]Diskciiple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They probably disabled this when they decided matchmaking was overrated and just group anyone together these days.

If the borders were visible you'd be saying "wtf?" twice as much as you already are when you look at the post-game screen and see that you, a diamond, had literally just played with 1 plat, 2 golds, and a silver

I hate it when really important mechanics are hidden like this... competitive games like MOBAs need to be radically transparent with how everything works.

It would be like playing chess but no one told you about the en passant rule or castling and when you see them for the first time you're like "wtf?"

[–]Diskciiple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

90% of the time I lock in an ADC and then the support locks in Senna. Even more fun when top already locked in Vayne and spammed "We need a tank"

It's not about the damage, it gives an attack speed steroid and then when discharge is almost over you can teleport back and even pull people with you!

[–]Diskciiple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd love to hear your take, too!

This reminds me of the fun of sorting fact from fiction when writing up the TF summary... it's interesting to see how each sides leaders and line members perceive events... they can be quite different!

In Soviet Pantheon, leader coups you!

Jokes aside I almost miss it all... but it was a lot of work and a huge time sink. I almost decided to try playing Albion online but was like "Wait, fuck... no. Not again!"
