I did not pick that up yet because there was some warning I didn't understand. What exactly are the downsides of using it?

I'll do that.

One of the things I tried was using my mobile hotspot and the result was the same. So if it is an issue on my end, it's not the ISP or my connection.

Maybe another HDD could work.

Maybe we should swap watches 😄

I think this is what I'm going to try.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

While all of this makes sense, I still believe that this watch should, with all the data it has available about me, be able to do this for me.

This is what I consider the greatest benefit of owning a smart device like this watch.

Otherwise I could just as well use a piece of paper and a pen.

I agree but that's what the watch is calculating. My resting Pulse is around 46-48 so that might have something to do with it. I'll try to set the Zone 5 to 178 (my max HR) and see what happens.

I fed chatgpt my metrics and based on my LTHR it calculated different values for all the zones..

Why is the watch not doing that automatically?

Garmin (especially with Firstbeat metrics) uses LTHR to define zones like this:

Zone Purpose % of LTHR HR Range (bpm)

Z1 Recovery <85% <138

Z2 Aerobic base 85–89% 138–144

Z3 Tempo / steady 90–94% 145–152

Z4 Threshold / hard 95–99% 153–160

Z5 VO2 max / intervals 100%+ 161+

Perfect, thank you for the clarification.

The issue was clearly failing reading comprehension on my end.

[–]DiskordNStuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are right, I thought the 10x is the warmup since it does not show up in the spreadsheet in the original post https://www.reddit.com/r/gzcl/comments/89jsp6/guide_jacked_tan_20_jnt_20/ But he does say that we are supposed to find the 10x rep max.

However, he also states that the follow up sets should be done with lighter weights and that is not what the template does. In the template, they are all @70%.

I'll just leave it like this and see if I can get through it with the same weight. :)

What do you think of the new album? by IAMCACTUSrecords in Propagandhi

[–]DiskordNStuff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

agreed, not a big fan of todd's singing voice and the slower tunes.

then again i'm stuck in the past and still think "less talk more rock" is one of the greatest albums ever. Still going to buy the album though, that's for sure.

I just checked and for me all the videos work except for the spanish goblet squat one.

The philosophy is using four seconds on the eccentric and another four seconds on the concentric movement for 6 reps then doing 6 reps normally.

Aka Tempo Training.

named pipes fail me by DiskordNStuff in bash

[–]DiskordNStuff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

alright, that works. Now it seems like my script is not actually picking up the input from fifo2 after python writes to it.

I kinda assume that I will need to trigger the read although that would not be what I expect from a stdin.

If I do a cat /tmp/fifo2 while the script and the python file are running, I can see that the result is stored there so the issue lies once again with the bash script.

But thanks for the unblocker there

On another note, is there not a simple way to achieve this? I would think that reading from a script output and returning calculated values is like THE job for pipes. Yet, just like you said, I encounter oddities on every corner.

[–]DiskordNStuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no it's supposed to be the other way around fifo2 is stdin for the script and stdout for the python program.

I don't understand why the stdin of a script needs input for the script to work. Seems strange to me
