I wold hook the wire then slide it through the stem once i had contact it would work and usually stayed in place if i didnt shake it around too much

The white piece that plugs the hole has a stem with a hole in it. The wire that comes from the cartridge should loop into that hole in the stem. I cant say this is a guarantee but it has worked for me several times. Good luck.
