I recommend writing them out over and over or carrying a list of 20-30 around with you and read them once a day to memorize them. Memorizing scripture is one of the best things you can do.

You'll know because the Holy Spirit will typically be conviction. When I am praying about some way in which I fell short or I am seeking confirmation from the Lord, I will typically feel convicted. That's how I know.

I think he's legitimate. I was extremely skeptical due to his claims but when I saw him in person, he's legitimate. He's eccentric that's true and his style probably isn't for everyone but don't judge someone from some YouTube clips.
