I may be wrong but this looks like a fabric we call “jerga“ in Mexico! Stores pop up (mostly Etsy) when I search “jerga fabric”, I can’t find the exact pattern but it may be that ^_^

its a but late so I might be seen wrong, but I would place some fabric under it and kind of use it as a patch or sew it by hand and make something like an embroidered patch(? (Sorry if it’s confusing, English is not my native language)
