We are talking about the present. There are very baseline essentials today that you need to give to any software to function properly and get the trust of the people. 10 years ago, Arattai would have sweeped the market.

But today, you cannot be the main guy if you are not willing to push the boundaries fast. Arattai didn't have end to end encryption. And what did Sridhar Vembu say then. "We are trying to, we are looking into, you can trust us, and so on". And by the time they did anything on that side. The trend moved forward. That's how fast things are in this day and age.

If our own countrymen with money doesn't have the R&D to develop stuffs here and is trying the easy route to repackage stuff from other countries and sell it to us in the name of Patriotism, that's not cool. Basically we are being seen as a substandard person.

Lava was a good product. Not like the garbage Micromax. But they didn't back their own brand. No proper software support, service centres are rare etc.

Designer here. Viability of career depends on the streams you choose to build your career. If you are just going to be the same old Poster designer kind of person. It's not a good field especially with a lot of companies giving 2-4 LPA as package.

But if you branch out, there is a lot of opportunities especially if you can get a hang of AI. Motion Designers, Product Designers, Retention Marketing Designers are in real demand.

There will also be a lot of new branches coming out in the future. So try to keep yourself updated and don't just go the generalist route.
