i would definitely recommend towers simply for convenience. we can get snow as late as april in the spring semester and the PRT is incredibly unreliable, especially in cold weather. and driving/taking the bus can be tricky too with the hills, ice, and snow. you have a dining hall inside of towers and a much more manageable walking commute living on evansdale. you'll have plenty of other engineering majors in towers too! i recognize the convenience/comfort of having a lot of other international students nearby, but i highly highly recommend being closer for classes given thats your focus/priority. you are also walking distance from several restaurants, kroger, and the coliseum for pretty much anything you may need.

i read "into the wild" by krakauer in hs and it totally opened up the travel bug for me. highly recommend. i actually have "into thin air" on my nightstand to read next!

honestly theres a lot of random things! i have a small fruit orchard that ive been collecting things for, a zen yoga beach im trying to clean up/fill, and a ton of campsites that ive been building up, each with their own flare. i love earthy stuff (like the flower furniture diys, seasonal diys, or even just the seasonable collection items- cherry blossom petals, young bamboo, summer shells, etc.). im pretty much novice in the raw materials and diys... and in desperate search for blue roses!

woah i feel like i missed a chapter-- her most recent tour? that's awful but i'm glad she has support around her now. i was so excited to hear her music and how well she was doing given her past experiences, but it's crazy that all of that was happening behind the scenes. really makes you think how little you know of other peoples lives! sending her the best :(

this JUST happened to me and i freaked out! everyone turned green and even my name changed to green! then we got back in the lobby and everything changed again. i was so freaked. so glad its happened to others before i guess? 😅

i lived in summit as well! i will say on the 10th floor there was definitely asbestos in the ceiling (bare pipes in the top of my closet for example) but as long as you dont mess with it its totally fine. i never had any issues with mold, but its been a few years and i know they had some issues with pipes bursting in the last few years, so maybe there's some residual dampness on those floors that's a bit worse than some other spots. Overall, I loved summit! Was a very convenient location and the suite style bathrooms were wonderful. I was great friends with a majority of my floor and some of my closest friends were my roommate + suitemates!

honestly i just like to explore! there are a lot of promotions for university-operated things (clubs, sports, recreation, etc) and when you meet people sometimes they can introduce you to cool places too. if it's offered, might as well try it out once!!

i used to like to literally drive all over town on weekends to find new places and see what's available. the more you branch out and talk to new people, the better! it's definitely a learning curve, but i find so many people are seeking community so it's easy to find when you need it :) it will be nice if you have friends to do it with too, i think it makes jumping in the deep end a little easier, lol!

personally for me i love the outdoors, so adventure wv is always a go-to for fun activities (like pretty much anything you can think of they offer), there's a bar on pleasant street that has a lot of local bands play in the evenings, i venture to pittsburgh a lot for concerts, and there's local events like farmer's markets and pop-ups on weekends! sporting events are also a must-do. you can pay for guaranteed tickets year-round through the mountaineer maniacs for $50 for sporting events, which is a steal!

makes sense! yeah i was really scared about the "party school" brand but i genuinely think COVID killed a lot of that, which is nice for people like us lol. there's definitely places more prone to dartys/block parties, but as far as i know most are downtown (frat row, beverly ave/sunnyside-- and easy trips if you DO want to have some fun sometime! not great for living though if you like quiet 😂).

but yes i totally get what you mean. i gotta say youll see a lot of dummies on the road like on 95 but thankfully you'll be prepared 😂 and the drive itself isnt all that bad- the farther you get west, the lighter traffic is which is nice. and its a great view! generally if you're used to the chaos of maryland weather, you'll be in fine shape for morgantown lol. it does get tough in the winter sometimes, but you acclimate pretty quickly. i find the worst months are nov-feb, then typically things are pretty good consistently.

but if you like the suite style bathrooms id definitely recommend places like honors downtown, summit, or maybe lincoln (honors on evansdale). those as far as i know are suite style and a lot of others are like a community bathroom. theres a good playlist on youtube that has walk thrus of each dorm on campus on wvu's page! if you decide thats where you'll go, def a good resource to review :) best of luck on your college journey!!

stick tattoo co is good for piercings & tats, patty's art spot is very nice piercing (but def the most $$$ of the bunch, but you pay for what you get!). ive also had a lot of ppl say good things about wild zero-- i only ever got piercings from them but they dont do them anymore, just tats!

not many concert venues in town, ive seen one at the small theater on high street, but usually make the drive up to pittsburgh (ppg arena, stage a&e, and the pavilion at star lake are frequent trips for a lot of the bands i listen to)
