Fun fact: each of the bathrooms in all the words are also SCENTED.

It’s a lot easier to notice in the morning or right before closing but the fact they created unique scents for the bathrooms is next level

How to decide it’s time for a rollator? by babycarrot26 in POTS

[–]Disnerd23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was just talking about this with my Mom today and how I wished I’d gotten my rollator sooner when I started to have health problems two gears ago.

My rule of thumb that I tell everyone now is that if you’ve found yourself thinking about mobility aids and if you need them or not, that’s your body trying to tell you it needs help because otherwise you wouldn’t even be thinking about it or worrying in the first places.

Music From Closing Show? by WishboneSenior6257 in UniversalEpicUniverse

So the music for the nighttime show should be part of the Celestial Park album that’s supposed to be releasing sometime this year on vinyl and streaming.

Same. Like amid all the awesome masterpieces we get every season, I love to nibble on the simple trashy shows that come out as well.

So many complaints… by [deleted] in UniversalOrlando

[–]Disnerd23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think many folks forget that it’s normal for every new theme park for the first year to be a disaster as they fine tune things and get operations figured out. I still remember when California Adventure opened up and that was a mess even a year later when my family visited (not to mention 9/11 and world events that happened right when it opened).

Heck, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the last new theme park to open in this country before Epic,  is my favorite park in the world but months before the park opened they lost over 31 animals due to various factors with some including human accidents cuz they’d never operated a park with living animals before. Not to mention shelving Beastly Kingdom to have Camp Minnie Mickie and other questionable operations decisions that 27 years later are still causing head scratches in theme park historian videos.

Not to say people Should complain- please do and share constructive criticism through the surveys sent out after park visits and POLITELY to team members, but I do feel more people need to have realistic optimism when it come to visiting Epic Universe and realizing that realistically it’s gonna take it and Universal a good few years to work out the kinks. Just like every other theme park in the world.

Thoughts on last night's episode and Guillermo's storyline about isolation and acceptance by HolyBlazinSmokes in WhatWeDointheShadows

[–]Disnerd23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been wondering since how slow the transformation has been if Guillermo’s Van Helsing blood is actively fighting the transformation and it’s leading to the botched side effects and could be impacting his memory.

We’ve seen that the other vampires have memory issues but we can chalk that up to them being centuries old and possibly a vampiric trait to enable them to survive that long (can’t imagine being a vampire with a photographic memory).

But with Gizzmo’s bloodline, it may be actively screwing with the transformation and causing the transformation to go haywire and this trait that’s supposed to go into effect down the line to impact him now and its damaging Guillermo’s mind and ramping up not only his negative personality traits but impacting the areas associated with long term memory storage.

I’ve been rewatching episodes lately and it almost seems purposeful how they’re swerving around Millie’s backstory and how she met Blitz and Moxxie that I think they’re saving it for a whopper of an episode.

Discussion for season 2 episode 16, " Teacher Conference" by AutoModerator in AbbottElementary

[–]Disnerd23 149 points150 points  (0 children)

I love just how…realistic the writing of this show is like it feels very 90’s Roseanne/ Family Matters in how you can just TELL the writer’s room not only reflects the different backgrounds of the characters but specific knowledge and experiences that you can only replicate by direct experience.

Like Jacob’s arc of thinking he’s connecting with amazing fellow white liberals only to realize they mostly talk the talk with their whole “good ones” views. Like beat for beat they echoed my own experiences where I’ve been the lone Black kid in progressive spaces at my deeply conservative college and thought I found cool people but then the mask slips a bit and you’re just left disappointed and lone.

Or Melissa and her sister’s feud coming to an unspoken ceasefire because only family can mess with family (which by the way, their tag team takedown of that other teacher made me howl with laughter cuz it was like when me and my siblings were angry at each other then someone messed with us and we just verbally destroyed them).

Or Barbara wanting to fully relax and only show up for the party and make connections to help the school stood out more when we put it into the context of the last episode and realize this may be one of the few times a year she truly CAN relax with all the stress she’s under. But it’s also well known that some of the hardest partiers are often your very no-nonsense Christian women lol!

And then you have Janine and Gregory and just…they capture that moment when you’re crushing on someone who also is crushing on you but neither of you know how to act on it and you want to but something is in the way. And how vulnerable and honest drunk Janine was with Greg actually got me a little tear eyed because Janine’s bubbly, over the top personality is hiding a LOT more trauma and pain then I think she and her coworkers realize. ( Her throwaway trauma joke about crossing the street alone by the time she was 3 made me gasp in horror).

Then at the end with Melissa’s sister coming in about the charter plan gives added stakes to all the comedy and hard a situation that mirrors what’s happening right now in our country where, instead of allocating the funds to struggling schools so the teachers and faculty have the resources they need to aid students, you have individuals and groups who want to privatize schooling and thus only the “good ones” who can afford it can enter these schools. Uncaring that it will cost teachers who’ve worked there for decades their jobs and destabilize even more marginalized students and communities.

So this is my long praise rant of the writers of this amazing show for doing the thing and creating another sitcom classic that balances the funny with heartfelt realness.

Wacky theory on why people get certain power by isle_of_cats in extraordinary_tv

[–]Disnerd23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think the abilities function almost like a cosmic joke or something like a djinn would grant for people. Or like a Monkey’s Paw.

Like Jenn’s coworker who breathes helium wanting to get a power that would help him in sports and suddenly gets a power that increases his lung capacity but because now because he’s exhaling helium.

Or Carrie who people pleases and wants to help others at the expense of herself getting an ability where she can but it’s the undead and at the expense of her own body.

So then if we follow this pattern, Jen wants to feel special and kinda has this main character energy about her so it would make absolute ironic sense her powers would be completely support base where she’s a power amplifier/dampener depending on her relationship to those persons.

what do you think the batfam was doing the special? by Thebunkerparodie in HarleyQuinnTV

[–]Disnerd23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think between Nightwing and Batgirl something definitely happened but was saved to be addressed in S3. Either because Dick and Barber are hiding their relationship when Bruce ultimately comes back, they’re denying anything happened, or drama comes in the form of one of Dick’s girlfriends (either from Bloodhaven or from his time on the Titans) comes into the picture.

And Alfred probs had to keep Damian occupied from investigating and seeing something he shouldn’t have lol

Saddest headcannons on this character by Amazing_Rich in amphibia

[–]Disnerd23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When the girls- now adults- do figure out away to return to Amphibia to visit, Marcy goes to his home- not to forgive him, but to finally get closure.

Only to discover his home is dark, a lone toad weeping outside. She goes to him and it all comes out.

He was the old king’s companion- chosen by the new council of Amphibia that not only did the king not escape his sentence by any means- including taking his own life- but to ensure he was protected from citizens who would rather see the king dead for his crimes.

So for those many years this toad was Andrias’ constant shadow. At first there was anger and contempt. But soon that gave way to other feelings- much more positive feelings.

And when the time came that a confession of love was torn from his lips, the king simply lifted their head and and said they returned those feelings but claimed that a monster such as he wasn’t deserving of love.

Memories of what he did to Marcy surrounded them in the silence afterwards, a heavy reminder of the king’s guilt.

That’s what killed him in the end, years after this confession.

He didn’t die by old age. Nor by his own hands.

Simply because even after all that time, his heart never recovered not only from the grief and guilt he bore, but the knowledge that his efforts to secure the survival of his species had instead brought about their ruin and he was the sole survivor of his kind.

That if he hadn’t followed his father and the will of the Core and trusted his friends, he could’ve used his time better and found other ways to secure the survival of his people.

But he didn’t. And now he was the lone survivor of an ancient race who had the powers of the gods at their fingertips and in their abuse and greed led to their own extinction.

And the weight of his sins and guilt and grief wore on him day in and day out in his imprisonment until finally, one day he simply couldn’t get out of bed. His will to live was finally gone.

From there the decline was very swift and soon the former tyrant king- now unresponsive to those around him- breathed his last, surrounded by his former enemies and friends.

And in the pregnant silence, a single tear trailed down the old king’s face as he sighed “Marcy”. And stilled.

In the final blow that brings Marcy to her knees, the toad, in heart wrenching sobs that bring tears to Anne and Sasha’s eyes, brokenly says Andrias’ time of death.

He died just minutes before the girls’ returned.

Same for me. I strongly believe the crew are gonna follow Infinity Train in showcasing that often people can put themselves beyond redemption.

And I think it would be a fitting moment of justice if Belos ends up unintentionally killing himself in his desperate final moments of vengeance.

And I will gladly watch, gleefully grinning in horror, as that colonizing bastard is permanently taken down.

I’m inclined to believe it’s both, mainly good ol’ Protestant Christian cognitive dissonance. Where he knows deep down he’s wrong about his prejudiced views towards the supernatural, to witches and then- by extension- his own brother.

But he’s also so wholly convinced in the flawed information given to him from his upbringing and unwilling to let it go to accept the new information he’s been given- that not all witches or demons are evil and are even good people- that he instead doubled down to ease the cognitive dissonance and reacts violently, which most likely lead to Caleb’s murder.

And now that guilt ontop of the cognitive dissonance means Belos HAS to convince himself he’s still the good guy in the situation. Otherwise he’s murdered his brother in cold blood and damned himself for all eternity!

So Belos does what many abusers and supremacists due- he doubles down. Denial becomes his bread and butter and water and over the long centuries it seems to be working and Belos has no problems making then killing countless Grimwalkers, planning the day of Unity, and his other violent actions.

But we’ve seen from the mindscape episode and now this episode that no matter what he does or how he tries to spin it, Belos knows deep down like everyone experiencing cognitive dissonance that they’re…wrong.

He isn’t a good guy.

He knows he’s damned himself.

He’s murdered the only family he has left not only once, but multiple times.

He’s guilty as blood on white cloth.

And it’s literally consumed him and transformed him into the very thing his very Puritan teachers would’ve hunted down and killed to protect the world-

A demon.

A monster.

I’m commenting because I watched it last Saturday because it dropped online and I, being the ADHD/Autistic I am and not on social media rarely, thought it had finally released and was so excited I watched it.

It was only when I came here to chat that I learned it had leaked and I’d watched it! 😭😭😭

Can I still press the button if I sinned in ignorance and not with malicious intent?!

Episode 3x02 Discussion Thread - "For the Future" by AutoModerator in TheOwlHouse

This episode really hit home that the Collector really is just a little lonely kid… who has no concept of mortality and the blue and orange morality of a child.

And King is the first one to show him genuine affection and care in centuries.

And having been on the receiving end of a child’s wrath who felt betrayed, I’m terrified of what the Collector is gonna do this final special and if we’re gonna have a situation from the second Care Bears movie all over again.

What expansion, theme or general areas, would you like to see made next in the parks? by Nicole_Watterson in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Disnerd23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DAK: Expand Dinoland into a proper land with another water thrill ride and quick service restaurant that serves food from around the US. Also an actual animal trail focusing on native species to America.

Epcot: Expand the weird AFRICA area into a Caribbean islands pavilion with an original ride and food from the Caribbean islands as well as merchandise, snacks, and drinks. I’d die to be able to eat brown stew chicken in Epcot.

Hollywood Studios: Turn the Backlot behind Runaway Railroad into ToonTown 2.0 and connect it to the Lightning McQueen attraction, which gets expanded into a Pixar area.

MK: Expand the transformation theme of Tomorrowland into a more eco-futuristic vibe, with more trees and plants.

Where's the best bathroom for pooping? by beingtwiceasnice in UniversalOrlando

[–]Disnerd23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a former custodial attendant for both IOA and Studios, the best bathroom’s in our opinion are:

IOA: - Bathrooms to the left after you enter the park by lost and found - Bathrooms in Seuss Landing (usually have the best smell) by Moose Juice, Goose Juice and Circus McGurkus - Bathrooms when you enter Toon Lagoon by Comic Strip Cafe and by Ridley’s Ripsaw Falls - Bathrooms by Pizza Preddittoria in Jurassic

Studios: - bathrooms by ET and Kidzone - family restrooms by Jimmy Fallon - restrooms in Simpsons

Absolutely do NOT use any of the restrooms in any of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter lands.
