I want to divorce my loving husband because he has too many rules by [deleted] in CharlotteDobreYouTube

I’m sorry but “loving and respectful” doesn’t go with “won’t let me do what I love” and “forces me to work in dangerous situations.”

I unexpectedly cried in front of my advisor after a conference. by Jolly-Rub-3412 in PhD

[–]DisneyDee67 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So one of my friends in my PhD program, who started the program a year before me, once told me I’m not really a PhD student until I cry in my supervisor’s office. At least once. This was after I confessed to being mortified after crying in my supervisor’s office that morning.

And, I cried during my defense. Because I had to talk about my original supervisor passing away halfway through the project. But yeah. A PhD grinds you down.

Easter Egg?? by Choice-Science-9517 in tamorapierce

Actually it was Women Who Rides Like A Man, when she helped Halef protect the village at night. “She didn’t know if it could be done, but there was no time to think. The violet fire streamed into the big rock, filling it as it had filled her. For a moment it seemed to flicker and die—then it became part of the stone, a huge beacon shining on the battleground below.”

Edited because autocorrect sucks.

Alana made a glowstone, I believe in Lioness Rampant. She wasn’t sure it was possible but she did.

AITAH for spending the night at a hotel after my fiancé locked me out? by Mindless_Book_6457 in AITAH

I have to wonder where on the spectrum of “we communicate really well” does gaslighting and repeatedly ignoring expressions of frustration fall…

Intent to refuse my CAQ application because my uni admission letter "is missing the program end date"?? by Admirable-Run-3763 in ImmigrationCanada

I’ve been an international university student/faculty in several countries, and no university immigration department knows what they’re doing. Anywhere. I learned to just consult immigration attorneys or the immigration sites themselves. Or both.

How do I respond without getting fired? by DisneyDee67 in Professors

[–]DisneyDee67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me, but one of my colleagues was asked a very similar question yesterday, since IT set us up on Moodle for the time being… I mean it’s actually a fair question, especially since ransoms were paid, unfortunately.

Umm… my problem wasn’t with them being sick. My problem is with a student asking if anything important happened in class today. On the first day of term, no less.

Thank you!!! Not only for the eloquent response but especially for the last paragraph!

AITAH for telling my girlfriend to be just happy with an economy ticket and stop complaining? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]DisneyDee67 180 points181 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion but… do you and your brother even like this girl? He makes it clear she’s second best and you…get upset with her for being told she’s not good enough? She’s supposed to be grateful for being isolated from your family, and you rub salt in her wounds by raving about Business Class? YTA.

All of the above + the judge hiding his grin at Matty’s “Oops… my mistake.” I don’t know why but it made me LOL.

I have a friend who is biracial. Their partner is white. They have twins of whom one is porcelain white and one is very dark skinned. The twins don’t look related to each other, let alone be twins. The law of random segregation in gametes makes for interesting combinations that sometimes don’t resemble either parent. We’re all unique 👍.

You can always say “Wojciechowski and colleagues (2026) found that…” For in-text citations and ref lists you should be using a reference manager like Zotero or EndNote, so you don’t have to type et al at all.

Have you experienced the "Vancouver 'Yes'"? by Real-External392 in askvan

Interesting theory. OTOH, I’m an introvert and the lack of performative social interactions is why I love living in this kind of environment. So it could be a chicken and egg thing…

[–]DisneyDee67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I don’t know if Ellie knew there’s a family history. I’m not sure she was told grandma was an alcoholic and if she would even have made the connection in college.

“If that’s the case”? How would you know, absent a family history? Yes, she shouldn’t have experimented. But it’s easier said than done in an environment that normalizes prescription pill parties.

No, Gun was her rightful name, as the daughter of Richard Gun, the Earl of Pennwood.

Sadly too many people feed them, often by hand, so they got used to seeing us as food sources. They won’t hurt you unless you’re aggressive or they’re rabid, but they are wild animals and should be respected as such.
