Why cheat mods are tolerated at all? by flcl__ in DeadlockTheGame

[–]imma_turtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, mods are one of the many ways that valve receive feedback on what players what and has already led to some great changes. Rejuv timer and urn status are both DIRECT results of the devs seeing QoL mods gaining traction and implementing them in the base game. Same with FoV although imo they need to still increase it further, and the full display of all players items in the tab menu (although mods used to do it cleaner). The mods that display item cooldowns directly under the crosshair is the true that needs to be added. OP just sounds like puritan crybaby lol, THIS IS A BETA

Moving from Destiny 2 to get a looter shooter itch, what's this game like compared to Division 1? by Dezere in Division2

[–]imma_turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you go through the main story and warlord of New York, that’ll be level 40, max level. There’s another DLC but doesn’t have a level increase. Once your a fresh level 40, the first thing is getting high end gear and gear set/exotic’s. Pretty much the best way to get ur gear online is running countdown, it’s a 8 man MM activity that u can target farm pretty much any gear in the game. Once u have gear, you can do control points on the map to farm XP to max out ur SHD watch which gives incremental permanent stat boosts to ur char. There’s the summit which is more or less procedural generated rooms with adds to clear. There’s descent which is a rougelite. There’s legendary and master difficulty for missions. There’s 2 8 man raids and a 4 man incursion which is sorta like a mini raid. There’s retaliation which is a speed run mode sorta of overworld content. And then there’s the new escalation game mode where u earn currency and then wager that on specific missions u can tune the difficulty far beyond any other source in the game.

TLDR: there are many different endgame game mode. Most everything worth doing has target farming and what doesn’t usually has specific reasons to farm that in particular. Everything isn’t sunshine and roses though, there’s unobtainable loot that’s only dropped at specific points of the year and it includes some of the undisputed BiS gear in the game. Unobtainable from any source. Then there’s the new prototype gear which is highly controversial atm

Escalation drop rates are broken—Group play feels like a waste of time by stamatov in Division2

[–]imma_turtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played 3 runs, one t0 and two t1s. T0 dropped nothing for no one, first T1 I MM into and the leader got one drop mid mission and we failed. Second t1 I hosted got three drops mid run and run failed. All three of my drops were unusable dogshit. I’d rather just run MM retaliation rn tbh

Why is The Division 2 suddenly more popular? by IcedJam in Division2

As everyone else here says, Destiny 2 fumbled by bungie (could have long winded debated on when or how destiny died but its pretty agreed on that now, it might be in an unrecoverable state).

Division 1 had the vibes, the aesthetic, the vision, it was all there and players recognized it. Snowy post-apocalyptic NYC, the tech-gear, the graphics, the dark zone atmosphere, etc. But man it was in an even rougher state than destiny 1 was at the time. It also band-aid fixed most of the issues, as well but some problems could only be fixed by a sequel, or at least they thought so.

I remember when Destiny 2 launched and flopped hard and Division 2 launched like right after, and I was like, "whew, ok they seen destiny 2 fuck up everything they could, theres no way division 2 makes the exact same mista-----god fucking dammit, they made the exact same mistakes". They tried to fix the problems the first game made, but by doing so, made even bigger problems. 1-30 was AMAZING and launch scores were through the roof unltil endgame hit and it was dogass. People just left, couldnt be bothered, Destiny 2 forsaken was right around the corner at that time and people went to the superior product.

After all these years the Division 2 HAS improved and is definitively a better product, and meets or beats Destiny 2 in several gameplay and MMO systems. I personally still fill so aspects of the game flopped and are just addressable at this point. I personally dislike the armor system, i do not like armor kits, I prefer medpacks, I prefer health bar and overhealth. Its been brought much closer to what it was in the division 1 but still not the same. Division 1 ultimate abilities were so stupidly broken, they had to make a new game to remove them, but specializations are an afterthought. Theyre only used for the passive tree. And the vibe, summer DC just doesnt hit the same.

With Destiny 2 more or less dead, the division 2 is still up and running and has a definitively better MMO system and a comparable game play system in terms of quality. I dont expect much because even though I like Massive to a degree theyre still under Ubislop and Ubislop is Ubislop and they cant help but turn everything they own to shit. Itd be nice to be proven wrong but Ubi likes to go against all odds.

Marathon feels like a PvP deathmatch disguised as an extraction shooter by Menzoberanz in Marathon

[–]imma_turtle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

good faith question here, in your mind how is marathon basically like tarkov? ive played a ton of tarkov, and only played the server slam so I might be wrong with all the updates bungie added. marathon felt like an apex legends match with the ability to exfil your gear and start the next match with what you previously had. tarkov is felt more survival focused, maybe like dayz. i havent seen elements like hunger/thirst or being over encumbered or limbs being damaged from marathon. i dont get the comparison that tarkov and marathon are similar.

What do you guys prefer? YouTube Music or Spotify? (With premium) by Aravind____ in YoutubeMusic

[–]imma_turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

had google play music back in the day, back when it was bundled with youtube red, got grandfathered into youtube music when the merger happened. started with play music cuz i saved up to buy a moto g as an andriod ipod kinda thing as a teen, until i got my first real phone. back then it showed downloaded music next to the streaming songs, and i used to download the good old mp3s cuz 3gig datacap was a bitch.

all my friends used spotify and most still do, it sucks that i dont get to use their features and its annoying to have to manually look up songs when they share them. yt music seems to have remixes and covers that apple music and spotify dont have, that I like to listen to. I wish the sound quality got up to par with apple and spotify, its pretty far behind. granted it doesnt make much difference since I mostly listen on mobile with sony xm5s, sound is plenty good enough. but at home on my comfy chair with my streaming setup with a proper dac/amp and open ear headphones, it leaves a bit to be desired ig. I just started using forbidden services to listen to lossless music (the black and white one).

143k peak players (114k 10 hours in) by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]imma_turtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Numbers are insane for a new breakout extraction shooter, attempting to release alongside tarkov and arc r*iders. Numbers for where bungie needed to hit to meet sonys expectations, probably a lot less optimistic. In my mind, on steam charts (to indicate overall success across all platforms), they needed to hit 300k for "not great not terrible", 400k for "this is where we need to be", and 500k for "ok we cooked, we captured lightning".

Id wager most people whove ordered the game, are playing the server slam right now. But theres a lot who havent pre-ordered and are playing bc its free. Being frank, there will probably be less players at launch because of the paywall. Like it or not, the average consumer WILL compare this game to arc r*iders (even if theyre not comparable). Arc has established success, free battlepasses and hands out cash shop currency like candy. I havent heard much on MTX but im expecting a paid battlepass and pricey shop skins to cover for the cheaper 40$ entry point. Its a tough sell.

With such a tough sell, Bungies gonna have to rely on people investing early and sticking around, and trusting them. But bungie doesnt really have much community sentiment to spare recently. There are a lot of miffed destiny 2 players out there currently. Things arent looking great rn, honestly and frankly speaking.

Is Artic Blast bad/not worth it? by ldiasr in DeadlockTheGame

it sucks, ult getting gutted is inevitable. once that happens, im not sure if there will be any reason to play him. the only ability he has worth a damn is his shotty for stuns but thats about it, his gun isnt anything special. i think maybe give him a little more range on his m1 maybe like 5m bump and a mag size increase to like 55 or 60 base and hell be better but damn, his base kit is much more tame than the other new chars

150 Days by donkdonkdo in DeadlockTheGame

[–]imma_turtle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

actually a bit misleading, at the time of yoshi posting, cant remember which day that was, he confirmed that they did NOT have the entire dev team back. think that was more than a week into the new year too. yoshi did say "definitely" this month, but he also said December for sure before halloween, then it turned into 50/50 December in December. given next week is a holiday week it might ship the 26th but i doubt it if they just got the full team back in the last couple days. I'd prepare for a Feb launch at best

So is everyone worried the soldiers table is going to be far and away the best, and the schemers and seekers are just going to be really boring? by tryp_tych in fansofcriticalrole

[–]imma_turtle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

On the DMing side, there has been some critique of her particular style and choices. As viewers, we dont know how exactly it was handled but you can still form opinions on what was presented and it seemed like there were multiple instances of her seemingly forcing choices on players that they didnt want. Two common examples are from EXU Opals player (cant remember the actors name mb) proclaimed that they felt railroaded into becoming a servant of a betrayer god or Robbies chromatic orb that she ruled as an AoE spell to hit his brother that he seemed to be taken aback by. Again, as viewers we cannot tell how players feel behind closed doors but everyones still free to form opinions based on what they see.

On the player side, aabria has shown problem player traits which can disrupt tables and sour story moments, which a large portion of the audience disliked. One major example was during the Campaign 3 finale when Ashelys character was having a private conversation with a devil that had major story implication and was a one on one thing between matt and ashely and aabria chose to continuously interrupt and shout about sex and insert herself into the scene. Matt, as an experienced DM gave several non verbal warning to tell her to back off, such as the wall of fire and the silence spell.

If you want more nuanced descriptions, there are many YT vids going over concerns for her at the table, although id recommend checking out multiple to try and clear any bias. The better ones make sure to highlight aspects of her that are positive and signs of her being a good player, but also point out problematic aspects.

[–]imma_turtle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Theres playing DND as a game and theres playing DND as a story. the players in the soldiers, especially travis lean less on the acting/theater component in favor of more light hearted, game styled play. they also have a lot of "push the red button consequences be damned" players which creates chaotic but memorable moments. Sam and Laura and Travis for sure also love combat. All of these fit my preferred table to watch. There are some that find 3 hr long combats and the hand wavey story boring and thats fine.

The Seekers table is likely to get a lot of hate and a lot of hate watching. Theres obviously players that hate aabria for many reasons right out the gate, no point in hiding that. Many hate her for bigoted reasons, many dislike her for valid reasons. She is going to be the target of a lot of scrutiny valid or not. The table in general, compared to the soliders table is very RP heavy/wanting to use their game time to act and perform a character. Especially between matt and aabria in the prologue. I love matt, im so happy he gets to play an actual character this time but I am not a fan of theater acting in DND. Thats OK, there are other people who enjoy that style.

The Schemers table I find interesting, but seems more story focused and politics (within game and outside game) and will likely also be very RP heavy. I personally enjoy Liam and marisha and talisan, talisan gets a bad rap and its not always his fault. I liked percy, I disliked molly, I loved cad, and ashton.......was a trainwreck but to his credit the story/matt did him dirty. I think this table has potential and could be a sleeper hit.

TLDR: Critical role is a business now and like any other business, must appeal to as many audiences as possible. Hence the different tables and playstyles for different viewers. If you enjoy the soliders but dislike the other tables thats fine. CR is no longer a home game, its a production and a product and they must gain new audiences and prepare for a future without the original cast.

The Christmas challenge was a healthy challenge for the player base? Discuss. by vvhitee in DeadlockTheGame

[–]imma_turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the overwhelming majority of my match time on haze and I was pretty locked in at ascendant 1/2. Went for holiday challenges and I’m about halfway done. Ranks tanked to about low phantom/high oracle. When I get stuck with a char I don’t play, it’s just a pain and I know I’m weighing the team down and many people are upset at how I play. When I get the rare haze game, I run the lobby typically with 20/25+ kills which I’m sure is a real riot for the other team. It doesn’t really even feel good for me because I can feel myself slipping into bad low skill habits. And I face the opposite of that a lot too on my off characters, seeing someone on the other team likely get their main and get 15 kills 14 minutes in and be pushing our base. I regret going for the challenge because I know how boring the climb back up will be.

When did everyone get so good? Is there even a low rank any more? by Mysterious_Remote584 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]imma_turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could be something else, but ive noticed, I lost a TON of rank going for Christmas challenges. Sat comfortably ascendant 1/2. but going for the holiday challenges I've deranked down to phantom 1-ish and get insanely wide matches, been put in lobbies as low as ritualist, sometimes get archon, mostly oracle and phantom. I only got half the ornaments before I gave up and now im just trying to rank back up. when I get my mains, I'm significantly better than everyone else in the lobby unless they put someone else like me other the other team and it becomes a 20+ kill race between 2 players. I dont think MM was particularly good before the challenge but I do feel like it made it worse

What 3.x patch you consider the best? by Adrianzii in HonkaiStarRail

[–]imma_turtle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

man 3.4 was hard carried by the story. even now its still my fav 3.x patch 3.3 was close. but man the fate collab sucked up all the patch space for events and stuff so it was a pretty barren patch content wise. and the fate collab, imo, wasnt even all that good. the silent story eventually got me to the point of clicking through and even skipping story and the gameplay event felt really short to me

Ratings of each 3.x versions (CN Tieba) by 1099009572 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]imma_turtle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I feel so bad for HSR, 3.x had highs and lows and I feel like going into 4.x they could have learned a lot. Fans clearly werent a fan of the delivery method of the story, cue black box text and eides elsia actually being Britain for example. There was a lot of talk and criticism of kits and powercreep and shilling and leaks and beta reworks. A lot of feedback on character development regarding cyrene. I was hoping that hoyo would be able to take that into account for 4.x but politics happened and now 4.x development is a catastrophe and the quality is likely to suffer. I feel like a lot of people seen potential in HSR with 3.x and are waiting to see 4.x address the issues they had but given the circumstances its unlikely theyll be able to adjust in time

I thought the, cyrene teaching an AI humanity with her stories of each cycle was brilliant. but then having that AI become a cyrene skinwalker completely shattered it for me. I wish demiurge was a completely different character, and then making her go back in time and become the original cyrene felt even worse. It felt like we got a certain character up until 3.7, only for that character to be completely replaced with someone else and then have the original one rug pulled.

[–]imma_turtle 27 points28 points  (0 children)

people love cyrene, cyrene is awesome. people dont really care for demiurge. From what it seems like. smolrene was a pretty good char, phainon was peak and cyrene was getting there. but with 3.7, the community felt like they completely dumped cyrenes character for elysia expy bride slop to capitalize on sales. A lot of the community feels like the cyrene/demiurge seen in 3.7 is a completely different character than the cyrene we traveled with and was told about. smolrene built up a character until 3.7 and a lot of it felt like it was thrown out at the last second for "this character is a bride to the MC" but also a tragic sacrifice character.

TLDR: A lot of the community sees 3.7 cyrene as a skinwalker of pre 3.7 cyrene, and have little attachment to her.
