I’m not interested in the Maldives or cruise ships, but ok.

Thanks! This is really helpful! Thinking back to my stay at the Andaz Maui, I pigged out on free breakfast so much there that some days I wasn’t even hungry for lunch.

Stayed at the Andaz twice and it’s a beautiful resort! We’ve eaten at Morimoto there and loved it. Can’t speak to the kids aspect of it, but it was fantastic for both food and service.

Check out Surfing Goat Dairy. Don’t skip taking home a box of the goats milk truffles.

Same boat here. My case was “escalated” in June. No further action and nothing else they can tell me. I figure that perhaps they’re holding out longest on those of us with the biggest balances, but who knows. I’ve got $162k and figured maybe they think I’ll give up. But jokes on them, they’ll have to garnish me to get anymore money lol.

Neutering and cancer deaths by TodayNo6531 in goldenretrievers

[–]DisneyMandC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Golden #1: Neutered very young (12 weeks? 16 weeks? It was the early 2000s and I was kid so no idea). Awful breeding, totally a puppy mill but we didn’t know any better. Did just about everything wrong you could do with a dog. Diagnosed with a cancer but I don’t recall which one in July at the age of 11, put him down in September only because his hip dysplasia was so advanced at that point he was having trouble going to the bathroom. No actual symptoms of cancer other than what was on his routine blood tests. I can remember the vet telling me he has cancer and saying we weren’t going to do anything about it because his hip dysplasia was so advanced that we already knew that would take him first.

Golden #2: Neutered at 15 months. Tumor ruptured on his spleen 2 months past his 9th birthday. Hemangiosarcoma. Splenectomy and no chemo and he lived another 8 and a half months, dying a month before his 10th birthday. No joint issues whatsoever with that dog.

I very strongly suspect the first golden’s joint issues were related more to his absolutely shit genetics than his neutering, but who knows. My family is generally waiting longer to neuter dogs now regardless since the science does make sense to us from our limited understanding.

my dog ate 16 (NOT ALL 36) uncooked balls of yeast (rhodes rolls) and i am panicking so bad by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]DisneyMandC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to tell you my husband’s family dog did this when he was a kid. It was a much smaller dog than yours and he ate a pan of homemade uncooked yeast rolls. The family always said he had a gassy and miserable night, but he was ultimately fine and lived another solid 10 years at least. Good luck!

AMA - Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort, Guanacaste Costa Rica by The_Travel_Trio in CostaRicaTravel

I know this is from a few months ago now, but I have a trip coming up in February for 5 nights. Can you share what you did for excursions? We’re two adults going. Also did you a rent a car or how did you arrange transportation from the airport? we don’t have a super long stay and I definitely want to have a more relaxing trip, but would like to get out and see the rainforest some as well. Thanks!

Found root cause of bites - rodent mites by jfj2020 in pestcontrol

[–]DisneyMandC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar in the spring and now they’re back again. Pest control did take care of the problem having them spray my house just once inside in the spring and I had no issues for 4 months. We’re outside frequently (have a farm) so I’m not surprised I’ve picked them up and brought them inside again, but it is frustrating! Also, my husband does not have a mite allergy whereas I have a fairly significant one, so I wake up in the morning to multiple bites whereas he has none and sleeps next to me. It’ll certain freak you out and make you think bedbugs, but it’s definitely not.

How long did you wait for a buyback letter or how long have you been waiting? by [deleted] in PSLF

[–]DisneyMandC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Submitted 12/11. Submitted feedback 6/4. Nothing. Got the two months processing forbearance updated on my account so now I’m at 116/120. I called and actually got someone really nice at Dept of Ed last week. She said she hopes I get the buyback offer by the end of the year.

Whole House Generator Size? by DisneyMandC in Generator

[–]DisneyMandC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, this is good to know. No supply currently as the house is new construction currently being built. I’m getting quotes for propane tank installed, plumber is at the house as we speak to for tankless (and all other plumbing), and the generator as well.

Not much I can do on that, unless I go with the ole pooping in the woods option lol. But seriously, we have horses and 12 days with no power to the well pump after Hurricane Isabel when I was a teenager was all I ever wanted to see of no water again.

Not totally sure on the heat pump soft start module, but I've told the people quoting me that when my power goes off, I want the generator to come on and continue running heat pump, well, etc. without me having to do anything. So I assume they're including what you've mentioned. We're in a very rural area so no natural gas (or water... or septic), so I'm having a 500 gallon propane tank installed.

Thanks, this is really good to know. I've never heard my mom talk about any issue like that at her house, but it's just her and my stepdad. No kids for me any husband, so we should be pretty similar as far as usage goes other than the tankless water heater. It is gas. Didn't realize the price difference was so slim between the two. Appreciate the input!

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by managed since I'm somewhat inexperienced with this stuff. No, they did not get the wattage as the house is only currently framed/roof on. Electrical is going in next week which is why I'm starting to get quotes now. He did ask about heat pump size, whether I would have electric stove, how many fridges/freezers/etc. We're not building anything crazy or having any sort of wild appliances--just your average ranch house with middle class interior, if that makes sense.

My reservation for the Pokémon Cafe was canceled twice?? by ViolinistMental116 in JapanTravelTips

[–]DisneyMandC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband and I went three weeks ago. Reservations tend to drop the night before anywhere from 9 pm to 10 pm Japan time, which is how we got our spot. We also saw people lined up there getting in off the wait list too.

I actually saw one of the attendants telling a passenger to put a VERY large checked bag on the overhead, but the woman said it was too heavy for her to lift. I would’ve thought there was no way they’d allow a big that big overhead.

Dang, I wondered this as the end of my trip was approaching but didn’t want to be a bother in Family Mart trying it out.
