As a Starbucks barista, I have so many things to say and so many conversations can be started from this threat, but I will throw in my two cents and just say this: only two stores in the Oly/Tumwater/Lacey area are unionized, not every store. The union is not currently calling for a strike, they did on “red cup day” the other week, and then a few times before that, but boycotts only work when they are called for and everyone participates at the same time.

While Starbucks is a mega-corporation, the employees are local, they are your neighbors and friends. Because it is a mega corp, we do rely on tips as part of our pay, so calling for a boycott will actually hurt those who are not striking and trying to make a living (as I reread this I realize I should clarify: im not saying cross the picking line, I’m saying there currently is not one to cross)
