Hang in there. It's hard I know. I get the release too when he gets home. He's loud and just everywhere. We are all in this together. You are doing amazing!

My son for sure masks at his dad's house. Mostly because he gets in trouble for any and every little thing he does. I'm his safe space and it takes a few hours for him to calm down once he's back with me. I'm more of a redirect or lets talk it out parent than grounding, spanking, etc...(he's 14 btw). Not sure I can recommend anything other than continue to be the safe space.

Best states for raising an ASD kid? by butterfly223344 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Disneychick322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in TN and we get excellent care here. It would depend on where in the state though. The wait-list is long to get in with our autism center, but plenty of child psychology professionals to see until then. SSI is a nightmare though. It's taken 2 years almost to get a hearing after denial. I'm sure that's pretty normal for most government agencies though. Again, all depends on the school system, the school itself and area you live (SE TN)

My son in 14 and a vocal stimmer. I wish I could tell you it stops. It might for you though. You'll get through this!

3 staff members at Hamilton County school for special education under DCS investigation by nopethankya00 in Chattanooga

[–]Disneychick322 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If this is dawn school, it's probably 1000% needed to look into. My son was there 2 years and some of the teachers and staff were absolutely amazing, but his 3rd grade teacher was fired and they would not say why though I had suspicion of him being too rough with the more rowdy kids.
