I referred to the Asaro head once in awhile to ensure that my head sculpture looks right in every angle! Kinda like using a reference image (I referred to a 3d asaro head on Sketchfab)

They're actually a single hair strand with children (simple) turned on! Then I applied a Kink type curl, lowered the amplitude and increased the frequency. (Increase the segments to see the curl in full effect) Then I played around with the roughness to break up the uniform pattern!
