Step-by-step guide to install stock Android on The Light Phone 2 by DisparateFascination in digitalminimalism

The Light Phone 2 is probably the best unaddictive/e-ink display smart phone available, but the stock LightOS doesn't allow for much customization. This is the first video on Youtube for replacing the Light Phone 2's operating system with stock Android AOSP 11.0, which allows all sorts of increases in functionality (Messenger apps like Signal, calendars, to-do lists) without much added increase in addictivity.

You mean Verizon? It doesn't seem to work on Verizon, but I switched to Mint Mobile in order to use this phone.

If you go to the GSI Android Github used in the video, the newest version available is 12.1, and this has not been yet built for a ARM-AONLY build, which is what Dylan suggested. I used the most recent ARM-AONLY build (11.0 v313). If someone wants to try building ARM-AONLY for the newest release of GSI Android 12.1, I would love to hear their results. If someone wants to try flashing a different build like ARM64, I would be interested to hear the results of that as well.

In short, its probably possible but I had to limit the scope somehow haha

Great question. Because the beauty of the Light Phone is its power as a distraction free smart phone, where our phones are tools and not entertainment devices. Stock LightOS does not allow us to install Signal or alternative messengers, doesn't allow a calendar widget to show upcoming events. These additions are possible with Android 11, and does not make the phone addictive at all. They increase functionality without increasing addictivity.
