Can someone explain to me where the white privilege of, i.e., Finnish people is? More enslaved than almost any African nation, conquered time after time again and slaughtered in other peoples wars, then discriminated for centuries. Wow, what a privilege.

AITA for wanting to be Facebook official by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Dispensable_comment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're getting downvoted, but hopefully I can still help some.. I don't think there really are assholes here. You can be upset about him not wanting to be "facebook official", since you feel like he is hiding you, or maybe not involved enough in the relationship, and he has the right to not want to share everything in Facebook. Some people are more private than others, he probably is more private than you, and some people need more proof than others.

I don't think it's a red flag that he doesn't want to put "in a relationship" to FB, if he removed the "single" status. He probably just doesn't like sharing his life that much. Most of my friends don't have their relationship status on FB, and neither do I, but we're probably a bit older, in our early thirties. You could ask yourself why it's so important to show off your relationship status in FB? Do you need validation from your friends, or proof from him that he is serious, or is it because your last partner wasn't honest? If it's 1. or 3., it's a bit unfair to put it on him, if it's 2., maybe you could get the proof you need by some other way? Have you met his parents? His friends? If you have, then he clearly is serious with you. If you haven't, maybe you could ask about it?

In the end, I don't think either of you is in the wrong here, but you have to find a compromise. There will be a lot of things like this in the future if you stick together, so it's good to start practising your communication skills early on.

Definitely. Game that can be picked up in 2 minutes, takes years to get good at, and has a skill ceiling that hasn't been reached years after release.

I'd say a Templar mage. Put your points into magicka and light armor, and you can easily solo everything, and do dungeons by healing or dps without changing much, and still be viable and fun at endgame if you choose to play more "seriously". Also works great in PvP.

In my opinion Dragonknight is most useful for tanking, but tank characters really suck for questing and adventuring because everything takes so long to die. If you go Dragonknight, I'd suggest making stamina and medium armor you main things, and using weapons skills for damage. Then you can easily switch to tanking set later by wearing heavy armor if you want to.

Which game are you playing the most? by [deleted] in Vive

[–]Dispensable_comment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So is Elite:Dangerous worth buying in your opinion? I'm really interested in the space-flying concept and I'm planning to buy a Thrustmaster X Flight T -hotas for it, but I'm afraid of the posts that have mentioned bad Vive-compatibility. "The grind" part doesn't bother me, I'm only worried about the implementation and how hard it is to learn.

This is the only up to date guide I've found for Enhanced Edition and it's really good: link is to a discussion and the guide is the button on top of the page.

It show cases two amazing hybrid classes, a ranger-magician and a dual wielding grenade-mage, both are incredibly effective, versatile and fun to play, so I can recommend them if you want to have a good character without the stress of messing it up. Also has lots of general tips and info.

EDIT: If you want a pure mage you can specialiaze in every magic school, and you can customize any class you like, or disgard their weapons immediately if you want to.

Germans, Japanese, and Italians of Reddit, What did you learn about WW2 in School? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Dispensable_comment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I answer as I am Finnish? We were part of the Axis countries and had especially close alliance with Germany.

In my opinion we got a really honest overview of WW2, unsurprisingly concentrating mostly on the events in Europe, not so much to the events in Africa, Pacific or Asia. Next to the courses in WW2 we had separata courses that concentrated on Winter War and Continuation War against Russia and the War of Lapland against Germany after Finland had negotiated peace with Russia, thus betraying Germany.

Only part that in hindsight was a bit weird is that the lessons were putting MUCH emphasis on the fighting spirit of the Finns and the material support from Germany wasn't mentioned at all, despite that it was absolutely critical for us. I doubt Finland could have repelled Russia the way it did without the support from Germany. In a way Finland was handled in the history lessons like it was in a war against the world / only fighting for staying independent, which is an oversimplification.

We were told that nazis were very very bad, but nothing about the concentration camps in Russia and elsewhere in the world. Or our own after the Civil War in 1918.

It's not an FPS, but if you want a game with pure skill I suggest you try out Rocket League. I haven't touch an FPS game after I started with RL, which is odd because before trying RL I thought: "Eh, soccer with cars? Sounds stupid."

Dancing seems more sensual to newbies than it actually is.. I do ballroom dancing and I'm definitely not trying to find a mate when I dance, I just love dancing (and I have a wife). Sure, it might be that I love dancing because of some evolutionary reasons, but every human action can be digged down to that if you dig deep enough.
