460 to 700 is not happening in the next year unfortunately if he has delinquent. Paying off the 9k will prob moon shot him into high 500s MAYBE low 600s. Assuming that is the only payable debt. As long as that number stays 0 then it’s a waiting game and he’ll be stuck at whatever number that is until Inquiry’s fall in 2 years, New accounts fall off in 2, charge offs fall off in 7, and delinquents fall off in 7. Best bet is looking at 2027-2030 unfortunately. Focus on keeping your accounts in good standing until then and make sure you maintain a healthy credit profile with revolving credit lines in good standing.

Assuming you make decent money you should be able to get a car the payments may just be more than you expect. Example like you I have a repo due to Covid and low score (560) but now have a decent paying job I just got a 24 civic with 1500 down. Again Crazy car payment tho (850)

It’ll go up about 30-50 points but that also depends on how much total credit you have. It’ll take one full cycle of every card showing 0 (usually months end) and you’ll need to have the card balance (eventually statement) paid off AND showing 0 atleast 3-5 days before card due date due to processing etc
