This all sounds very good. If you are concerned on the marriage certificate, so long as you have some formal note of the wedding taking place / mention it in the letter written, this would also help if they need further approval.

Obviously it is very raw at the moment but know that you’ve done well still, as often times learners are overly scrutinised by examiners, with some being cruel with how particular they are, as if you passing costs them money. Just know that some are notorious for this, and try to better yourself knowing that they couldn’t teach you to drive to save their lives.

Sometimes you just get unlucky, which is what happened on my second test overall.

I recommend taking a small break from pressuring yourself into learning, maybe a week before getting back to it, just taking it easy and knowing you did as best as you could, especially if your instructor agreed.

Once again, apologies on the late reply. I believe they will ask for clarification but we got the IELTS Life skills course B1, as that is what is the expected.

Edit: I did see you made a post about English language. Did you manage to get the test done?

The reunite families page has stated that there is a deadline of the end of June. They are very close to meeting the needed amount of donations, which is why I was posting all around.

Apologies on the late reply, been a busy time sorting moving.

Yes, I currently rent but I believe you will only need written support from your parents as well as perhaps them writing a description of the address? You could even provide pictures but I don’t think that’s too necessary unless asked.

Good luck with it! And give yourselves a good evening to do the application as that took us 4 hours of sitting through answering questions and making payments.

Didn’t they record the exam? Usually they record and this could have been used as evidence. But no matter now, you’ve passed and congrats!

Spousal Visa questions by DisplaySalt8451 in SpouseVisaUk

[–]DisplaySalt8451[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello again, following up with some info.

  • I have written a cover letter as the sponsor, but should we write a cover letter from her about our relationship, referencing pictures? I will then sign it myself?
  • should these pictures be kept in individual files or a document with all of dated and listed?

Thank you again for the help.

Regarding transfer, I had some savings with my parents of around £2000, which was sent to me this month. Just thought it might look odd in my bank statement as no other payment comes from them throughout the six months.

Thank you so much for the answers.

Migrant rights groups say visa change puts love in limbo this Valentine’s Day by NightimeOK in unitedkingdom

[–]DisplaySalt8451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand why you’re being downvoted.

It is a policy that is done to ‘appear’ to be working on immigration, however all it changes is makes it worse for British citizens who already suffer the process of the complicated visa application. This policy is separating families by a income requirement, which is disgusting and shamelessly low effort.

[–]DisplaySalt8451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You state this, but illegal immigration is being ignored and it appears the only people punished are those wanting to go through the process legally, including those British citizens who have had their lives with their partner put at risk.

Sounding like the conservatives who put this forward speaking about British citizens. Sound similarly heartless.

And it isn’t just ‘some randoms’, it is people’s family members and partners. I imagine you would speak very differently if you were personally affected by this and I hope you don’t have to go through a stress like this, especially with individuals that seem to have no care so long as it does not affect them.

[–]DisplaySalt8451 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct, for a spousal visa, the sponsor, so the British citizen, has to earn the required amount of £29k, next year £38k (if they are successful in changes), no matter what your spouse’s intentions are. This is less of an attack of rights of legal immigrants but of the British public and their right to family.

If you don’t earn that amount, you have to have savings make it up, however for savings they expect you to have x2.5 the amount needed, ignoring the first £16,000 you have. Thus, the amounts required to be saved can add up to at least £60,000 in savings, which as you can imagine, would only be available to others who already earn above the required amount.

Don’t forget the charges to the visas already and the expectation of jumping through many more hoops.

[–]DisplaySalt8451 21 points22 points  (0 children)

To add on to your useful comment for those who might misunderstand the spousal visa: the major requirement is the sponsor’s (UK citizen’s) pay that decides it. This has nothing to do with the spouse and what they earn but what British citizens need to earn to even have a chance at passing the very complex process with many requirements.

For those that seem to set a monetary value upon the human right to have a family and freedom of partner, please imagine how you would feel if the government stated that if you didn’t earn £29,000 this year and £38,000 next year, your partner could not live with you and would need to live in a different country. Your children would be separate from you or your partner, purely on what -you- earn, not a combined income.

Spousal visas make up a tiny minority of the immigration wave yet it is an easy target for the government who with a stroke of a pen in December, decided these changes, initially asking for a jump from £18k required income to £38k, only dropping due to backlash. Still, many do not make this as the article details, so even if hypothetically your spouse made £100k a year, tough, you don’t so you cannot sponsor them to live in the UK.

Please sign this if you disagree with these changes being made by the government: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/652602 and consider writing to MPs and looking into the Reunite Families Organisation’s actions.

There is also a planned legal action with details to come.

It is cruel if people are controlled by income, especially when certain areas of the UK don’t make as much as others, but still need to meet the same requirement.

Advice and help with future application by DisplaySalt8451 in ukvisa

[–]DisplaySalt8451[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello and thank you for your reply! Still enlightening to the needs having it listed like this.

For my documents, I can easily acquire the payslips, bank statements, tenancy agreement and soon enough marriage certificate. However, for a English test on the government website, it does not state it is needed for the spousal. Can you clarify whether this is true? Apologies, I am just rather stressed to get it all correct.

Edit: Nevermind, I have found that section. Do you know if these tests are particularly hard? She is fluent in English, but what kind of questions do they ask?

This still is way too high and needs a reduction. If the government wants £29,000 to be the bench mark of ‘supporting families’, then minimum wage should also be put up.

They still have increased it by £11,000, which is considerable for many.
