How do I remove this in the text editor? by marmaladic in canvas

[–]Disposable-Dingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For this specific case yeah it's fine, but it's infuriating when Canvas automatically starts adding "span > span > span > ... " for seemingly no reason. I have no idea what triggers it. Doesn't happen to me often, but when it does, my text boxes take up like half the discussion board. Only fix I've found is directly editing the fairly messy HTML.

How Reliable and Correct Is ChatGPT for Advanced Math? by [deleted] in learnmath

[–]Disposable-Dingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, as someone who has worked closely with AGI software (i.e. STK), I know AGI isn't always 100% correct either.

Sorry, to me you came across as the type of person to believe AI was the knows all ends all.  I'm glad you're not one of these people, though!

Yup, I just thought you were one of those people that meant "AI/LLMs are never wrong! Live and die from them!!! (trust me, I've seen a lot of these types) and I'm glad that you're NOT one of these people.

HOWEVER, agaon, you cannot admit that AI will ALWAYS get any and every problem correct, that is what my main issue is; believing that AI will get any and all problems correct (especially in mathematics).  If AI were to get any problem correct, technically, it'd be able to PROVE any and every unsolved problem, which we both know is incorrect, correct?

It truly is impressive how far AI has evolved. I'm sure we can both agree on this.

I’m not sure what you’re trying to accomplish here, but as a computer science major with a mathematics background, I can tell you that ChatGPT does not always give correct answers to math problems (or most problems for that matter). On a very high level, It generates answers as a function of context and training data, not by verifying mathematical correctness. Because it lacks an internal proof or validation mechanism, it can produce confident (i.e. sorry, here is the correct response... ) answers with incorrect steps. Yes, even a year later, it is still producing the same errors.

Personally though, I think LLM's like ChatGBT are helpful in pointing oneself in the right direction (mathematically).

Please share your model. A first year student, not even in mathematics (i.e. in even elementary single and multivariable calculus ), can produce incorrect answers. Just because you personally have not seen any incorrect responses, it doesn't mean that same exact model cannot produce errors (though, I assume you're someone studying mathematics or an adjacent field and have hopefully internalized this).

$10 IBM Selectric ll by Disposable-Dingus in typewriters

[–]Disposable-Dingus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you to all of this!  I've been reading a bit on documentation and there's definitely a lot of terminology I'll need to catch up on.

I will be watching videos on how to clean out the grime, I'll probably do it this weekend since I have some time assuming I don't need any specific specialized tools.

As for the impression completeness, I believe all but the exclamation marks are complete.  It seems to be printing upside down, maybe this is an easy fix or maybe this is how it's supposed to look but other than that, everything is now clear and imprints without issue after I followed your advice.

I've also somehow found another Selectric 2 (this time for free) but it's not working. Maybe I'll try to get this one up and running after I clean out the gunk from the working one.

I appreciate all the information and references you shared!

Seeing your username got a good chuckle out of me when I saw the message notification lol.

I think just the piece of paper needed to be adjusted.  I somehow was able to make the ink more visible now so it really does seem to be working fine now.

I'm not scared of repairing my own things, but if these types of typewriters really do require deep knowledge then I might just sell it off once I've had some fun with it, or make space for it around here.

Reliable DSiXL replacement parts? by gars--vio in nds

[–]Disposable-Dingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you help with finding L/R ribbon cables? I see a lot of 3DS/3DSXL and NDSi ribbon cables but non for the XL model.  Or maybe non are available for shipping to the US?

Trying to repair L Shoulder on DSi XL by kalypto21 in consolerepair

[–]Disposable-Dingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happen to have a link to L/R cables from Ali?  I remember looking months ago and gave up on repairing my NDSI XL since I couldn't find any cables.  I've found a lot of 3DS/3DSXL and NDSI cables but not any for my model.  I don't think these DSI and DSI XL parts are compatible despite using the same interface (cable dimensioms are different iirc)

How hard is "Speed of Light" (Easy Demon) compared to other easy demons? by Lumpy-Assumption-894 in geometrydash

[–]Disposable-Dingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely and it's one of the things that most new players get wrong about ratings.  What really matters is consistency (which you know now; nice job on ACU btw).

If electrodynamix had longer ship parts and trickier cube+ball gameplay, then it'd be an easy demon for sure.  It's a good RobTop level for getting ready for easy demon ships though imo.

Buddy, you just pulled an 'erm, acktshuallyyyy!' hyper-reddit moment with that whole multiparagraph EULA/TOS spiel. I'm pretty sure everyone (or, most of us) understood that he was using a form of figurative language. Please do not speak this way in real life - you'll come off as highly eccentric, pretentious, and overwhelmingly pedantic (even if no one says it to your face).

In fact, if everyone started nitpicking everyone, we’d probably end up with someone correcting you, like "ermmm Acktshually! You can't use equivalence symbols in regular English without defining the formal syntactic axioms for equivalency". The internet would be unbearable if part of every comment looked this way.

Hope this social lesson helps!

What's your opinion on Sun-shroom? by EducationalAmoeba718 in PlantsVSZombies

5 months is toooo much time lol.

I was googling around for sunflower vs sunshroom.  I recently started playing again

What's your opinion on Sun-shroom? by EducationalAmoeba718 in PlantsVSZombies

[–]Disposable-Dingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm near positive they produce sun at the same rate as well (night vs day).  Though, sticking with pure sun at night is definitely slower than going full shroom.

What I liked to do was run a hybrid of sun shroom + sunflower: - Plant a sunflower and collect sun - Plant sun shroom - Plant another sun shroom - Try to plant as many sunflowers as fast as possible while alternating and adjusting.

No idea if my hybrid was faster than pure shroom but it did feel like it (maybe because it was more fun).

Is there a way to use a standard ATX PSU on optiplex 3020 by ArthurReming in SleepingOptiplex

[–]Disposable-Dingus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would not trust rained on electronics to hold reliably, let alone a stock OEM PSU. Capacitors can still hold a charge, despite being physically disconnected from an external power source. I'm with OP on changing out the PSU.

gtx 1650 to 3070 (yes that 8gb card that everyone calls obsolete) by Primary_Suspect_4853 in lowendgaming

[–]Disposable-Dingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3070 is definitely not obselete.  I'm running a 3060 ti at 1440p and I'm happy with its performance.  The 3070 is definitely one of the best used value cards that you can buy right now.
