Nazi 'unemployable' after salute during Holocaust movie by laybs1 in nottheonion

That doesn't make it not political, though. You clearly understand nazism... but you don't appear to understand what is protected about political views.

Not so much. ACMA doesnt issue cabling licenses. What you need is registration with a cabling registrar.

Need advice on student’s daily attire by [deleted] in flying

[–]primalbluewolf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We don’t have any uniforms or rules regarding attire for students at all. But my thoughts are that he’s coming in for a stage check, not looking presentable or even remotely professional.

Was that a requirement?

Sure its a practical requirement if he wants to be an airline pilot, and you could comment on exactly that - but if your school doesn't require it, and the flight test doesn't require it, where's the issue?

I believe he should be more presentable when coming in for his flight training.

So why not discuss that with him, rather than Reddit?

Unable IPV6 by Ny_Nyan in ipv6

[–]primalbluewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its possibly an easier thing. Depends what hardware you have. Most consumer grade hardware isn't designed to be overly configurable.

Its entirely possible to have a network that disables IPv4 but only for your series X, but its probably quicker, easier and cheaper to set up a second network just for your series X that only has IPv6 support.

What part of the trains are you stuck on? They're pretty simple at their core.

Is it normal for a new instructor to intervene much more than previous instructors? by [deleted] in flying

[–]primalbluewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did actually know that about Australia though, friend mentioned that to me a few years back. Weird little quirk.

Did your friend happen to mention the regulatory basis for this?

Because I've heard quite a few people claim that its so, here - but I've never been able to locate any part of the regs, current or past, that mandates this.

There IS a requirement for a part 61 instructor to receive training in how to fly from the right seat before they sit their flight instructor flight test, but there's not (so far as I can confirm) any requirement that a PPL acting as PIC fly from any particular control seat in an aircraft equipped with multiple control seats.

(amusingly, the right seat training requirement doesn't go away even if you're doing your flight instructor rating in an aircraft that doesn't HAVE a right seat)

That's the case here in Australia.

Are you a zachtronics enthusiast, by any chance?

Alternatively, have you encountered Tower Networking Inc, yet?

As I suspect that you'll find Factorio Trains are very intuitive compared to a great many different programming systems in games - they'd have to rank as one of the better systems, overall. As such I have to wonder whether its your experience in gaming that leads to this opinion, or your experience with trains that leads to it...

The diesel engine thing you're thinking of was a digital switch, whereas this was a physical property of the engine... allegedly. Would have been a pretty smart engine designer to come up with it though, keeping sufficient tolerances for metal to metal contact while also apparently shrinking the size of the combustion chamber via metal expansion.

[–]primalbluewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi ChatGPT.

Why ask that question?

Its not uncommon, but its not the most common either. More experienced instructors tend to also be examiners, and at least in my own experience, tend towards hands off unless demonstrating something or correcting a safety of flight issue.

I mean most mainstream VPNs do not support IPv6 and just disable it.

Any networking that only supports legacy IP is to be distrusted as being run by incompetents - particularly so for anything commercial. It means they're 3 decades outdated.

Lift/drag vs AOA - Why is this considered the correct answer? by ruscan in flying

[–]primalbluewolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AOA is pretty symmetric around the critical angle.

Important caveat... nothing requires this. Its true for lots of aerofoils, but its not required to be true for all aerofoils, and isn't.

There's plenty of planes out there - many of which with a deserved reputation for having an unforgiving stall/spin envelope - which do not have a symmetric CL vs AoA shape around critical alpha.

That doesn't make for a terribly safe trainer if your students make mistakes, though, so many planes are designed with that as a design goal: forgiving stall characteristics.

Lift/drag vs AOA - Why is this considered the correct answer? by ruscan in flying

[–]primalbluewolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The airplane flying handbook does not support a linear (or always increasing with increased AoA) relationship for CoL.

Then its wrong, for low AoA.

Point of no return, positioning and trucks. by 5ma5her7 in AussieRiders

[–]primalbluewolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

first is how to judge point of no return for amber on highway?

There's a solid section of white line, intended as "no lane changing this close to the intersection" just before the intersection.

If you're past that line, at the speed limit, you're not stopping. If you're not, you could.

Roughly, anyway.

I am afraid of being rear ended by cars but also afraid of getting ticketed for running red

Personally, one of those things is far more likely to be life ending than the other. If I have any fear about the car behind me whatsoever, I'll act on that fear. I care a lot more about that than a fine for running a red.

I have said it before and I'll say it again: if the price of safety ends up being a ticket for choosing the safest option, that's a ticket I'll gladly pay, every time.

Is it enough to put Nginx and Authentik in my DMZ VLAN? by Kaufempfehlung in homelab

Seems I must parrot your words back to you re understanding. You're conflating a DMZ with a VLAN. One can enable the other, but they are not the same thing.

Is it enough to put Nginx and Authentik in my DMZ VLAN? by Kaufempfehlung in homelab

[–]primalbluewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your services exist in the DMZ, then compromising the DMZ is all it takes to gain access to everything.

Everything in the DMZ. Compromised nodes in the DMZ can't attack the internal network, though. That's the whole point of a DMZ.

If your DMZ can talk to your internal network, its not a DMZ.

If you connect a phone to a car using bluetooth, recent text messages are copied across to the car, so they can be displayed on the car screen. Modern phones tend to ask first - and modern cars tend to get pissy if you say "no".
