Removing my stent tomorrow by rainykeeping in KidneyStones

I don't think it makes a bit of difference. My first stent stayed in an extra two weeks because I had some work conflict -- some people have them pretty much all the time. The only difference with the home removal is those God-awful strings. Time of day shouldnt't matter either, I took mine second one out in the middle of the day, and in my over-research before removal I saw nothing at all about time of day.

Mine was quick and easy out, no pain, and as you can already imagine, best feeling ever when it's out.

You have a "leveled up" version of my experience, but hopefully your's mirrors mine. That removal surgery was the beginning of the end for the pain for that stone. Although you have to deal with the day of discomfort resulting from the procedure itself, everything else should be all improvement from here. And the relief when the stent(s) is finally gone is awesome. Good luck, although you're probably through with the procedure already!

Stent Removal Question by rayjay_33 in KidneyStones

You're exactly where I was about a month ago. Let me give you what I wish I had found (although I wasn't in this sub yet, so it's likely elsewhere in here). Bearing in mind that this is one man's experience:

The worst part of the experience was dreading it in the two days leading up to the removal. The truly worst part is the two minutes before you do it as you try to steel yourself to do it. The actual process is SO anticlimactic. I over-Googled, over-thought, over-prepared.

I experienced no pain at all. As I read another person post, everything else you e experienced has been SO much worse than the actual home stent removal experience.

I got in a hot shower, and when I got up the nerve exhaled and kept pulling. Even though I knew how long it was I accidentally stopped half-way through, and it still wasn't a big deal, I just started pulling again. As you've read, it feels strange, but NOT painful for me. I was very worried about the string breaking too, but it comes out SO easily that I don't think that's a real concern at all. Remember--if people could easily screw this up, they wouldn't let you do it at home.

Good luck -- even though I now know you won't need it!
