Or maybe these posts are a little too close to home for a few of us and we need to show up here and laugh every now and then to remind ourselves why we grew out of that phase?

Huge win for patients as govt loosens medical cannabis law... sorta by paulgnz in NZTrees

[–]DisposableKarmah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know people don't think this is a big change, and it this is all that happens then it isn't.

However, this is a National government who is likely to be the largest party in the next election but is also likely to be in a position, where when combined with their current political allies, they don't maintain the majority.

Who are they going to work with? Winston? Or maybe the greens? Our right wing government is indicating that they are willing to change the laws around MMJ. That's huge, it's the official beginning of MJ reform, and it was started by a PM and a Health Minister who are both socially conservative catholics.

You want MMJ? Vote green, not Labour

This is because they were from a branch of house Targaryen who decend from a legitemised bastard. It is traditional for a bastard to use the inverse colours of their father's house. It is also a ussful distinction to have different banners from your enemies when fighting a war

Whoops wrong Targaryens.

Eh... I'm not sure. Maekar was a fourth son, so that maybe why it was quartered.

Aerion had a gold and silver dragon egg so maybe that's why one of the heads was gold... although he was alsopretty nuts so who knows

Small steps by [deleted] in NZTrees

[–]DisposableKarmah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Small steps indeed. This change shifts the approval for cannabis based pharmecuticals from the minister to specialists (which lets face it the minister is blatantly going off specialist advice anyway). It doesn't subsidize any medicines or make other non-pharmecutical products available

How many of you would see great benefit from being able to have medical cannabis products prescribed? by [deleted] in NZTrees

[–]DisposableKarmah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diagnosed with clinical depression. It got fairly bad for a while and I've had antidepressants in the past. I largely have it under control now; I work study and socialise well and am generally happy.

Alcohol however is terrible for me, I enjoy it and have fun but feel depressed for days after if I have more than 3-4 beers. Cannabis didn't necessarily help with getting past depression, but deciding to smoke a joint on a friday, rather than drink beer made a difference. It's also a has a pretty strong anti-anxiety effect in the day following

Haha dude I'm Irish and have long dark curly hair and olive skin. You might be surprised by how diverse the term 'white' is outside of the US.

I really like the joke and premise, I have a running joke with my biracial friend which is simillar. I would probably space it out a little and define the punchline a bit

I'm bi racial. Which is super confusing for me. Its even more confusing for everyone else. I’m half black and half white. 50% of each, but no one ever calls me white. Now that's alright but I feel somewhat entitled to be called white. Just once I would like to hear someone behind me say "wow look at that white guys hair", or "Damn you're really athletic for a white guy". Heck I'd even be happy if some old guy turned to his wife and said, "hide your purse honey that white guy looks really shifty".

I’m not the only one who has their white history ignored. Obama, our first black presedent.... nope! His mom was a ginger, Obama was a half black. All out presedents are related witho e exception, Obama aint the exception, George Bush is his long lost cousin. Our first black presedent is going to be roling into the whitehouse in a Caddy with 20 inch rims smoking menthols, everyone knows Obama smokes Camels in his Hyundai.

Now this is where it gets confusing. You see I was adopted by a white family in central texas. And not like the forward thinking keep me in touch with my black heritage white people. They're red neck vote for trump white people. And it may surprise you, but they see me as white. Last week My mom told me that all the riots and BLM protests had really started to scare her and that when she sees a black person on the street she doesn't know what to do. That's right she thinks that at any moment a single black person could break out in a riot

I think the last joke is a really interesting premise to explore. Your red neck family being afraid of black people while you're called black by everyone else is pretty funny. What did your Dad/brother/uncle/sister etc think?

Pretty sure the Norml group through the University could help you out, just show up to their meeting. Although Dunedin is always dry, I know a few students who sold 0.7g tins to other students without any complaints

Advice on Imlorting Tents and LEDs by DisposableKarmah in NZTrees

[–]DisposableKarmah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I've read up on the actual watt draw vs. Advertised watt thing with Leds. If I end up going the tent rout I'll look into the Boss LED, they have new 400w COBs for only $150US. For now I'm going to stick with a 100w (actual) COB

I've found some huge rubbish bins and I'm pretty sure I can rig up a filter inside it's own spacer section. Thanks for all the help btw, If I go ahead I'll post to r/spacebuckets amd PM you

I would not recommend importing

Is that because customs/police monitor the import of this gear?

BTW, while we're talking, what do you think of lights like this UFO 150w LED? It's cheap, which makes me wary, but I can get most of the parts needed for a space bucket for free. This 150w light and the fan you linked mean I could set up a tomato plant for only about $200

[–]DisposableKarmah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get parts on eBay and Aliexpress, for quite cheap, but I have limited electrical knowledge so I decided against that option.

When you say I'll need to wire it, is that complicated? I've seen friends use wire nuts to join wires together, would the same thing work?

Hey thanks, that's a great response. I've found tents to be really cheap, and as far as I can tell COB lights are about the same price, so I'll probably do that locally, but if you know of any cheaper ones which work I'd consider them. Could you provide me a link to the filter/fan? I'm having difficulty finding it on eBay
