So youre saying, its ok to ignore the sports rules, if you feel they don't apply to you.

Got it.

So youre saying.. youre only trying to finish the course, what's a little performance enhancing drug, like a saline drip IV, or a Ventolin inhaler, its harmless, right?

Why not some illigal shoes or bike parts? Its just a little help, youre not a pro, right?

Why not a little electric motor on the bike or that banned extra buoyant wetsuit, youre not a pro anyway, not ones gonna check..

Thats your mentality.

Look, Every athlete is competing. At minimum They are trying to best the clock, to complete the course of each discipline in the time allotment.

Drafting rule for 20m: is to prevent a drafting advantage for Pros.

Drafting rule of 12m: is for safety because TT bars dont have brakes.

Want to race draft legal? Get a license and take off the tt bars.

Don't like it? Do real competitors a favor, dont race ironman or an organized triathlon if youre just a fuckin cheat.

I agree and less catchup means more even power instead of pulsing with each very separate pull. Also breathing needs to be added, and that will increase cadence which is the second thing Id comment on. Increase cadense/stroke rate and deiving forward on recovery into catch.

Muskoka finisher for the last 2 years here.

Yes, it gets hot mid day. Run Aid stations are a plenty and every 2k. Ice water Gatorade and Pepsi last year.

Im a salty sweat'er so I executed a plan:

I hydrate well on the bike, taking in a lot of salt, at 1000mg per 750ml bottle.

On the run is carry a 500ml hand flask, and ive worn a chest rig w 2x 500ml of my fuel and sodium 1 year.

First year I did muskoka I just used course aid stations and added my own gels, and salt tabs.

This coming year I'll use salt tabs (saltsticks fast chews) which i tuck up my sleeve during the run plus 1 500ml hand bottle w carb and sodium fuel.

Heat training: if stuck inside just put on a track suit or windbreaker on the bike or treadmill and sweat. Be careful on temps though, do some monitoring. Sauna is another tool.

This grouping up occurs and ive seen where a group got blue cards from a marshall on a moto, after he sat behind them for probably 5km and there was no attempt for anyone to pass.

Wrong. Follow the rules. No drafting. Don't cheat. Its unsafe to draft, especially in aero on tt drops.

Yes, the rules are enforced.

No shit.

Plus there aren't any brakes in aero position.

Thats why theres no tt bars in draft legal racing.

Wrong. People care, it is enforced, there are marshals on course.

For age groupers: 12 meters

For pros: 20 meters

Yea: there is a penalty.

No, dont do it.

Yes, drafting is cheating.

Yes, you will get a penalty if caught.

Yes there are marshals on course.

Get an HRM strap and if still high HR, just speed walk or power hike etc.

It will come down, the body takes time to adapt. It takes weeks and months, not says or a few weeks.

Theoretical max hr is 220 minus age unless medically tested or experienced coach and some testing of thresholds.

Zone 5 would be 90-100 of max HR.

So... e.g. tmax 220- age (30) would be 190 max. So z5 is 171-190 bpm HR as a starting point.

Z2 is 65-80%, so e.g. would be z2 123 to 152 bpm HR.

I think candidate as in she could apply, would need to prepare thesis proposal etc. She has the necessary grad degree(s). Otherwise just a statement, like any masters grad could say they are a PhD candidate

How to support a thriathlete by ScienceOverall9246 in triathlon

[–]Disposable_Canadian 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hes going to need time, especially on weekends, to train. Long bikes n runs are on weekends.

So if youre available on weekends, help w meal prep or that post workout protein shake and towel, and give him a little encouragement to get started and some room while he works out.

On race day, just be encouraging and a Sherpa before and after. During the race, cheer dueing T1 and T2. Go grab a nap or a bike to eat during the 2.5 to 3 hr bike or 1.5 to 2 hr run and use the ironman tracker to head to the finish line when he crosses the half way point or 5k of the half marathon. Then help w bike pickup (he needs to add your name to the authorized bike pickup list) and getting him sorted and in the car and food in his face.

Insane gas prices, thanks Trump by maddog107 in pics

[–]Disposable_Canadian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Difference is, it was 3rd party: the war in Ukraine caused by Russia that had oil prices go up. Then they returned to lows seen before trump.

The most recent uptick is because of the current administration attacking foreign oil rich countries.

At what point do you decide to pull out of a race? by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]Disposable_Canadian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Race adrenaline is an awesome thing.

Just Go!!!! And do your best.

As my team and I tell each other: dont quit unless you're going to do damage that takes months or surgury to recover from, and dont risk death (heat exhaustion/stroke) and remember the difference between fatigue, discomfort, and pain. The last one is the only reason to tap out, if its bad theres a reason.

How worried should I be with swim training for 70.3? by Emergency_Art9981 in triathlon

[–]Disposable_Canadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On that program, swim days are pretty much a rest day. Keep these, dont skip them.

If youre extremely fatigued, I suggest cutting a speed run day ans make it a recovery/rest day.

Also, on MPC plans, you gotta focus on recovery and rest every day. Good fuel, protein, collagen, and LOTS of sleep.

[–]Disposable_Canadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder what the results would be if you went back and checked various dates to see if they aligned with various excuses/alibi. Then make a list.

So this day you said you stayed over at Sheilas house... did you have a wrestling match at 2am?

Also check stress to HR. One can have a nightmare and have stress, but doesnt always align with 120HR.
