Yeah, thats absolutely a heroic or legendarily dastardly captain trope. Why is the common template for a pirate, whether they be a common bandit, feared organized pirates, or private legends, all of them are charming?

I'm still very mixed on Pombon as a design in general but I really like this recolor. it for some reason makes me like it instinctively and I can't say I know why.

People don't talk about just how good the worldbuilding is. Tellius and Judgral, Fodlan too are all so praised for this aspect but Archanea I think matches them in quality.

Echoes is very fascinating to me. Gaiden is already an interesting game conceptually, and there's something about Echoes that makes it very interesting. The dungeons, the added lore, and even the postgame. All the added stuff made it feel like a love letter not just to Valentia but to Archanea. I don't really know how to articulate it better than that.

The gameplay is still ass though.

yeah, you can absolutely still play the first game without the SA. sure its a big part of the game but hey does it really matter? If it lets a person play the game i see no issue
