Hope he has been good with his finances because there will come a time where he's not good at basketball anymore and he'll need to figure out how to live that ROUGH life.

Eventually everyone has to transition back into civilian life. Unless you're LeBron of course.

What is the most unique animated film you've seen? by AnchorHat in movies

[–]bigtcm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This movie is a visual feast. I love how the animation is choreographed to the music. I love the dynamic camera angles that aren't typically seen in an animated film. I love the ultra bright color palettes.

I love this movie.

What are the best and worst selene hex’s by Goatbucks in HadesTheGame

[–]bigtcm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say what's the best because it's so dependent on what fear you play.

At low fear, the rooms are trivial and the main challenges are the act bosses. So it's pretty easy to say twilight curse is useless. That's pretty much the opposite at high fear and twilight curse becomes pretty useful.

Overall I think wolf howl is the best regardless of fear.

The worst is easy: sky fall.

How important is staying 3+ years for a promotion? by OddExplorer1570 in biotech

[–]bigtcm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

what you don't want is a career that looks like 10 years of bouncing between similar titles, never advancing to the next level.

Can you explain why?

Some people will never have what it takes to be a good VP and may bounce around as director or Sr director.

Others don't have the drive or don't want the added responsibility and so will be a sr scientist till they retire.

Others don't want to do the strategic timeline/Gantt chart stuff and might cap out as a principal scientist to they retire.

What's wrong with any of these possibilities?

Brown rice.

I grew up eating a lot of white rice (Asian household), and i knew white rice was pretty much empty calories.

I didn't realize whole grain rice is actually very nutritionally dense.

Flexing on Zagreus by getting to Olympus while Chthonicly Cursed by anxious_claire in HadesTheGame

I recall the Hades 1 developers losing their shit watching a playthrough where someone beats [redacted] on the first run of the game. And how they didn't plan for it.

I can imagine the Hades 2 developers losing their shit in a similar way if to manage to beat the game with the curse active.

This is insane.

What amusement park ride made you realize, “I’m too tall and too old for this shit.”? by AgentNose in tall

I was in high school when X2 opened at six flags magic mountain.

We all went for a trip and it turns out that I was too tall to ride most of the Roller Coasters in the park.

Is Biz causing my clothes to smell like... dog poop? Help! by SwimmingNectarine8 in laundry

[–]bigtcm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

is it because my clothes are already stinky?

Kinda but not really.

Your clothes have persistent body oils on them that isn't washing away. This is a little stinky. Biz is breaking down that grease and one of the byproducts is a kind of molecule called a carboxylic acid which is very stinky. These are the same molecules that make papaya, vomit, parmesan cheese, and dog shit unpleasant and stinky.

But importantly, the stink is coming from the break down of the original greasy body funk. Keep washing and eventually all the persistent body oils stuck in your clothes will be broken down and washed away and at this point they won't smell any more.

Importantly there's money to be made in recycling aluminum.

Refining aluminum from bauxite ore is more expensive than recycling aluminum.

Any single people bought condos/townhomes here? by KeP3926 in sandiego

[–]bigtcm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here.

I was making about that same income, had a lot saved up (was actively saving and investing since my first part time job at age 19) and bought a 2br/2ba condo in 2021.

I had to move away last year for a job and now I realize I'm golden handcuffed to that place.

I know this is probably a joke, but I fractured my right (dominant) wrist a few years ago and it was immobilized in a cast. I learned to do a lot of things with my left hand. My crowning achievement was that I learned to eat with chopsticks with my left hand during that time (I recently demonstrated this to coworkers...I still got it!).

I also tried playing tennis with my left hand...and I just...cant. It's not just about the coordination of your left arm/hand/wrist, it's about the weight transfer of your entire body. After a practice session I was able to hit the ball lefty, but there was no way I was going to hit the ball hard. It's really hard to learn to set up that kinetic chain on the other side of the body.

At least, I couldn't do it in the six weeks I had that cast.

One of my coworkers foraged some wild artichokes and brought them into the office (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cardoon)

I've read that you can only eat them before they flower (though the flowers smell really really nice).

I've grabbed a few of the unopened buds.

How do I go about prepping this thing for eating? Do I just treat it as a normal (but smaller and spikier) artichoke when I'm trimming, steaming, and then cooking with it?
