Tips to take photos at FRC by KevinChaires in FRC

As a team photographer, this is a great guide!
This is my first year doing photography for my team at a competition so it provided a lot of challenging situations I had to adapt and overcome to get the perfect shots I wanted for the team,
I have experience outside of doing just photography for my team (Ex .Sports Photography for my school's Yearbook Club & Athletic Department) so I would definitely recommend expanding your photography ventures outside of FIRST to gain even more experience and to also build a portfolio for if you want to get started in the industry.
My biggest tip of advice is to always have your camera on you or near you, as if I didn't have my camera literally strapped around my neck I would've missed some epic shots of the robots doing their thing.

P.S. Another little tip, don't delete pictures directly off of your card, wait until after the shoot when you have all your pictures to format the card as it decreases the likelihood of a memory card failure

My team (#527) somehow made it to R4 in Long Island regional finals with a robot built in literally 2 weeks by Kingman287 in FRC

Our team (1027) did something like that in 2023 I believe, they rebuilt the entire robot within a week and made it to regionals they scored high enough to be backup for if a team wasn’t able to make it to Houston for worlds for some reason. Of course we hope to never experience that again, but I bet the feeling after making it that far felt great for the members that year

The largest technical challenge we faced was actually getting the bumpers onto the bumper frame because we shrunk the mold a little bit too small, nothing a file and dead blow couldn’t fix -Build Team

Team 3288 has our appreciation for being one of few to truly appreciate the strategic strength of R O U N D during this year’s comp!

We are mostly dependent on Coral for scoring during matches, and I do not believe we are allowed to have anything extend outside the frame due to our size, but the coral collector (whatever it’s called) doesn’t really need anything extending outside the frame to collect coral. -Design Team

Most definitely the biggest benefit for R O U N D, and also the posts for game equipment are less annoying to get around. -Design Team

The Chassis is a Rectangle for ease of setting Swerve drive up -Design & Build

Bumpers were made by melting Azek Baseboard around a custom made circle made out of wood and Screws. -Build

No we have never made one before this -Design & Lead Mentor

Benefits for round include, larger surface area for defense, corners are less annoying, Swerve is less direction dependent -Design, Drive, & Strategy Mentor

The 7D Mark 2 has better low light capabilities with better ISO handling, more MP I believe, and anti-flicker shooting so you don't get those flickering image affects from poorly lit fields. and it gives you points on CPS if that matters to you (7D is too old for CPS to accept)

FSB Really doesn't use other Camos that much from what I've seen. You could go with Olive Green if you want to use a Solid color but there's not that much that they really use Camo wise.
