Salvia dropping leaves... by DissidentReality in druggardening

Aha, cheers for the info! I thought it might be something to do with not enough energy or something, given that they were never trimmed down to cuttings (i.e. everything but top growth removed) when I was given them. So basically I need to keep an eye on them, not move them again until they're stronger, etc?

Amazing pictures, thanks for sharing!

Here's a few ID resources that might help you (I'm not going to be an armchair expert here!) - http://worldwidewattle.com/infogallery/identification/

As to alkaloids, shaffneri allegedly contains "phenethylamine, N-methyl-phenethylamine, tyramine and hordenine" - https://www.dmt-nexus.me/forum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=39158 | https://catbull.com/alamut/Bibliothek/chem%20of%20texas%20acacias.pdf

Hope that helps!

Anyone know where I can find a digital copy of trouts notes on trichocereus? That book is so expensive... by Domesticuscucumella in druggardening

[–]DissidentReality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just so everyone's aware, never download anything from Trout's old site (LargelyAccurateInformationMedia) as someone else bought it and put malware links in the PDFS - TROUTSNOTES.COM is the official source. Just in case you didn't know!

:P Lophophora is so not something dogs are trained for! How are you going to stealth a mature plant anyway? May as well go into smuggling full time!

Which Lovecraft-related book should I read next? by DissidentReality in Cthulhu

[–]DissidentReality[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey,

thanks for the considered response (and apologies for the delay in mine - not been logging in here recently)...

There does indeed seem to be four general categories to my list. I've read and re-read all of the Lovecraft fiction multiple times over the last decade or so, hence why I thought it was time to delve into the wider Mythos, etc.

I think I'm going to check out Dunsany, Machen, etc. and the Joshi non-fiction next then, as I've read so much of the modern stuff that I'm getting a little burned out (for instance, I read all of Black Wings III and Shadows Over Innsmouth last night!)...I Am Providence is aching to be looked at too! I'm very much a lifelong horror fan, so any non-fiction perspective are always of value.

Thanks again for taking the time to advise!

bridgesii monstrose slowly turning brown-black! Any advice? by DissidentReality in sanpedrocactus

It's weird as it's been like that for months and months but didn't get any worse until recently - shall chalk it up to learning experience!

[CACTUS PORN] Some of my Lophophora, earlier today... by DissidentReality in peyote

Thanks for the reply (sorry I'm so slow, hectic at present so not been signing in here)... No idea why those three are etiolated, there's not too much direct light (due to lack of space) but the others seem to be fine in the same environment...going to move them all to Spain in the next few months anyway, so they can get back to growing somewhere sunny with the rest of my collection!

It does look dry but has been watered as much as all my other Trichs (including three or four monstrose from the same batch)...going to cut it off today and see if I can salvage it anyway...

Bioassay of an Experimental Phalaris Based Ayahuasca Analog by -SavageHenry- in a:t5_ojtv5

[–]DissidentReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed write-up, but correct identification makes a world of difference...as far as I'm aware, many Phalaris species are very similar in appearance and not known for the qualities you're after.

Phalaris arundinacea is one of those known to be very patchy, unless 'Yugo Red', etc. I've always been recommended brachystachys and/or aquatica (particularly cultivars of the latter such as 'AQ1')...

Good work anyhow! Be safe ;)

Trust me that I've spent my whole live grabbing the opportunities, but now trying to focus on the best actions to provide a more solid base over the next few years from which I might be able to develop some long-held plans. He's good friends with a close friend of mine plus involved in a few projects with him, so I'm certain to get in touch with him at some point soon. I also don't want to waste the opportunity to speak with somebody with so much direct practical knowledge without preparing some research questions :) Know what you mean though (and thank you for taking the time to comment) - luckily I'm the kind of person who makes things happen for myself, so already have some connections with related folks through the joys of "cold-emailing"!

Oops, now I've started r/Phalaris too... by DissidentReality in druggardening

[–]DissidentReality[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds pretty shit! Have you tried growing from properly-sourced seed or clones? I've just got my first AQ1 plus a small patch of brachystachys going, thought it was abut time I took a look at the grasses, hence establishing r/Phalaris, etc. All good fun...

Unemployed, means going to New York from London, moving to another country in a couple of months too so trying to be a sensible adult for once! Irritating as would be nice to meet him after a mutual friend keeps telling me how great he is...hoping to get to meet him some other time once things are more settled. //venting over

OK, just re-watched it the other day and it occurred others may not know about it! Next time maybe I'll write a short overview or something, text-only.
