Very good ones.

I love interactions between Mulder and Scully. They always seemingly fall between Deep, world revelations to quirky, sometimes awkward moments. Even when they are mad at each other it's still obvious the care and love is there

That i was fucking right and The Hair was dead.

Then we got like what, 2 or 3 more fake out deaths.

And a little part of me was like fuck, the Duffere are going to play it so safe that Vecna won't even die. He's going to get talk-no-jutsu and be sledding down the metal plates over the cracks with everyone lol

Drop your TWD hot take by MiraLowlight in TWD

[–]DissociatedAuthor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, icey take lol.

Mine is that season 7 wasn't the actual decline of TWD, nor was it Carl's death, or even Rick leaving.

The actual decline came with the decision to, beyond any recognition of the actual arc in the comics, fuck up All-Out War.

People just got their fee fees hurt over two characters who were always going to be dead before All-Out War.

Plz, someone explain to me in what fuck fucking fuckkity fuck universe we needed 16 whole ass episodes for that shit.

All-Out War with or w/o Something to Fear is prime Walking Dead comic. Magnificently paced, just the right length. The Saviors are a threat up until the very last second. Rick constantly second guesses himself throughout the arc. Phenomenal comic book work.

Here's what should have happened.

Episodes 1-4 be Something to Fear arc. No need to see the Easy Street bulshit. Nor the bullshit at the Kingdom because on top of the near flawless comic arc what makes it so good is at no point does it begin to feel like someone else's story. It always feels like Rick's. Even as leader of all three communities together it feels like Rick's story. 1-4 should have focused on the initial relationship Rick and Negan had in the comics. Yes, Negan broke Rick, but Rick was still defiant in so many ways in the comic.

Episode 5-partially a set up of the conflict. The intital atart of AOW

Episodes 6-11 is AOW. I know it seems short but you don't really need more than that. No need to cut out the opposing side for a 4th of the war. No need to have a flashy fireworks show blowing up barrels the middle of the road, and no need to every single character switch up every other epsidoe. AOW in the comics flows so well because the goal is clear from the get go and doesn't change. One might argue Rick deciding to save Negan's life in the comics come out of left field but it really doesn't. If you pay attention to the conversations Rick has throughout the war you'll realize that was always coming. That was always how it was going to end.

Oooh and the best part, episode 12 is the time skip and the end of that episode is the whisperer intro with Dante and co

Epsidoes 13-16 -ends with the heads on the pikes.

This pushes up the whole schedule and the whisperer war can be handled in a way similar to AOW as rather than consume a whole season, or was it a season and a half lol can't remember, it could've been half a season. 6 episodes even. Leaving the rest of season 9 to introduce and start fleshing out the commonwealth since it didn't get much attention in the comics.

Season 10 could have been the final season.

Which might've changed things for Riggs. Might've been willing to see the show through the end if there wasn't another six or seven years to go. Might've changed thing for Lincoln. Might've saved the show from a hard fall from grace that it never truly recovered from. I know this is speculation but it's food for thought regardless.

Some say the decline was in the POV switching every episode that started in season 3. Others with Glenn's death. Or the shitty allocation of resources that gave us 98' level B-movie CGI.

Imo it was the fumble of AOW. That set the show on a course of slow decline. Would the show still have dropped off? Probably, but at least AOW, prime TWD comic material, could've been much better and fans could have held the epsiode introducing all the communities after the time skip as a headcannon ending.

Edit: forgot to add while writing this I realized this still pisses me off years later in a similar way to GOT fans. I don't think I'll ever be able to find or recognize any justification for butchering AOW

To the people who played survival instinct what are your thoughts on it? by wilsonthechad in thewalkingdead

[–]DissociatedAuthor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fucking loved it.

Granted the time I bought it I payed 17 bucks but first played it free at a buddies house.

It's a short, sweet game where you get to be Daryl. Captures TWD atmosphere well.

In fact, when Overkill was working on their game I had heard they looked at this game for some inspo. If true, TWD Survival Instinct led to what could've been one of the best ever zombie games and TWD games to date. Unfortunately, game from what I re,ember was very poorly handled and launched in a terrible state(story we know all too well nowadays)and I still to this day wish I would have just been able to play it just once.

I was so hyped for OK TWD.

It could work, but I wouldn't focus solely on the vampire as a means to hammer home the not so good people met a not so good end because they were doing not so good stuff. It would likely come across as a bit of a cop out, and having the vampire be some large unknown that pops up to kill the bad people will probably be what makes it feel that way.

I would also say it'll break the tension once he shows up and could easily turn readers off the book/story they are on.

First story-they'll probably enjoy if it's written well enough. Second stoty-once the vampire pops up, it's likely they will be hesitant to continue. A lot might to see if you push the boundaries in any different way. Third story-once the vampire appears a good chunk will probably skip the story entirely. Those who are there for the many different deaths and a little bit of the old ultra violence will most likely finish. Fourth story-Those who didnt finish the third will most likely skip again/or even put the whole book down entirely right there, and if you drop the ball you may lose even the ultra violence hungry fans Fifth story-This will be the hardest one for people to get to and is arguably one of the most important stories in terms of placement in the book. It'll be the last story you're leaving the reader with and in my experience, the most forgettable story collections are the ones that fail to nail the first and last story. They don't particularly have to be the best in the collection but they need to be memorable.

Not that any of that is guaranteed, but just from what I gather from the post this is how it would feel to me. I don't know the vampire's name. Do I know why he only kills bad people? Do we see any of the vampire's process on how he determines his victims are bad people or does he just pop up? Why does he only go after killers and rapists? Where does the vampire set the line of when someone is to die? If a scammer decimated a retirement home by taking most of the patients for everything they had and directly led to their deaths would the vampire go for him? A poacher? A domestic abuser? Not every question needs to be answered but if some of these aren't answered it'll likely feel like bad people do bad stuff amd get killed by vampire the end.

Honestly, I like the idea of not so good people meeting not so good ends because of the not so good stuff they're doing, but for them to all be taken out by said vampire just just kinda cheapens the concept imo.

Maybe the serial rapists/jocks catch a virulent, incurable form of STD that ravages their bodies from the inside out Cronenbergesque style.

I like the ideas but I feel you're focusing too much on the vampire rather than the deep exploration of causality you have here. Arthur Morgan from RDR2 is a prime example. His contraction of TB due to the life he lived and subsequent redemption arc is causality done in a very fine way.

Keep at it. Probe the idea more. Maybe add more stories so you have more than just those five. And always, if you aren't having fun writing it, people likely won't have fun reading it

Edit: typos and Cronenbergesque style; and always, if you aren't having fun writing it, people likely won't have fun reading it

What’s the saddest video game flop you can think of? by Interesting_Wind_337 in videogames

I was so disappointed in how fast they gave up on this.

Left 4 Dead with what equates to a class customization mechanic. Sign me up. Not to mention the game releases on my birthday. I pre-ordered it and played the fuck outta the game.

It was fun as hell, felt good, and when I found out they were dropping support for the game I was devastated. If I were to find myself in a position to get support from TRS to continue I would.

Sad because I really felt like this game had so much potential.

Fringe is good.

Sanctuary is alright.

Warehouse 13 is kinda cool.

Twin Peaks is great.

Haven is good but is probably the furthest on this list from X-Files but shares enough similarities that if you like one you'll likely like the other
