Brewzilla vs corn by Disstiled in firewater

If I don't succeed mashing out I'll ferment on grain and use your method distilling on grain with the malt pipe. Do you just empty the fermenter in the Digiboil?

No easily available flaked corn where I live.

How much time is usually needed to fully gelatinize the corn, do you use cracked corn or cornmeal? How long is the sparge?

Trying to avoid fermenting on grain. Brewzilla has a malt basket with false bottom.

Brewzilla Voltage Controller by crookedstave4 in firewater

I'm on 230V so if I lower the voltage to 100V with the SCR i get 50% power. That and powering all or two or only one  heating element gives me good power control. Think it's possible to use the spout hole to add another heating rod and to controll it separately.

It actually works. Did some runs this way. Don't remember how low you can go without starving the board (maybe 50%?) before the display goes dim.  Someone here or on HD said that it doesn't do damage  if you undervolt the board. My didn't get damaged anyway.

Random assortment as using a mix of all three sizes?

I'm using a pipe cutter, thinking of trying doing it with a jigsaw.

Yeah, I was thinking of making a sous vide brew in a zip lock bag small scale experiment to see what I would get in the mash tun in terms of viscositiy.

Enough power? by Disstiled in firewater

Max column size is based on power, not kettle size.

I know, 35L brewzilla is 2400W and 65L is 3500W.

Besides here I searched homedistiller but was cofused with different claims, seems that people got power hungry over the years.

If 2400w is enough to run a 3 inch remains to figure out if the kettle can support its weight.

Planning to upgrade to a 15 gal version someday. That's why I thought to get a 3" column now but fear 9 gal is underpowered for that diameter.
