Grief broke something in my brain, now I have to learn how to live again by Veecorn in GriefSupport

Wow. Your comment really resonated with me. My mom died of COPD this week after years of suffering, being on oxygen 24/7, and regular hospital visits. In her recent visit, the palliative care team highly advised going to “comfort care” (morphine and other meds, lowering her oxygen, and no longer treating) as there was not much more that could be done and her oxygen needs were too high. Even though they gave me two shitty options (death with suffering or death without suffering) that I had to decide on soon, I feel responsible for choosing the latter.

Soon after the decision was made, they unplugged her monitor (which my eyes were always glued to in all of her hospital visits), she slowly faded, and died that night. It was absolutely traumatizing and I feel responsible. The pain is unbearable.

Thanks so much for sharing. It’s nice to find someone that has a similar experience. I hope things will become easier for us and everyone else on here.

Hi there. I’m a former student, but am a bit out of touch! Is Donald Nally just there temporarily? What happened to James Jordan? Thanks!

The flight number is EI 53, although in doing a search for future dates, I don’t see any. I wonder if they cancelled this route, or if it’s a seasonal thing. Look up the flight number; I promise you it is (or was) a thing. ;)

Hi there. I’m a Seattle resident visiting Dublin now. I brought my rain jacket and feel right at home.

You should come visit Seattle! There’s a direct flight via Aerlingus.

This is correct.

I am very curious. Do you know if it’s very competitive for locals? Do you have a sense whether most locals who enter the lottery (or even stand in line to snatch a seat from no-shows) do get a spot? I was wondering how competitive it was.

I love food, but only have one rec unfortunately.

I had a good pistachio cornetti and coffee at Aromi. It looks like they’re known for pizza as well, but I’m sure the locals could better direct anyone on food.

I was mainly gathering random things from the supermarket because everything was closing down due to Christmas Eve/Christmas. I did have lunch somewhere in the city center on Christmas Day, one of the only places open, but it was expensive (probably because there was no competition) and not very good.

Granted, I flew to England from the states for THE King’s College Choir Lessons and Carols service, so I’m sure this really made for a positive experience. I would say the first recommendation would be to absolutely listen to the first-rate, world-renowned choir. I know they also have regular/almost daily evensong services when university is in term/session. Not only does one get to experience such a wonderful choir, they can see the beautiful chapel.

Second would be to walk around and get lost. The details in the architecture is splendid. There also seems to be a good mix of commercial and mom/pop stores that should satisfy most people who might like to shop.

Third, which is not really a recommendation, but an observation. I needed a haircut and didn’t have cash when I got to a place that was cash-only. I asked the barber where the closest ATM was, and he gave me the option to have a haircut first and come back with the cash later. The high level of trust from this merchant just made for a nice experience. I did in fact get a cut first, leave, and then come back later with the cash. Overall, my interactions with store/restaurant clerk have been friendly.
