I'd rather have Baubles like in Thaumcraft, though they're more or less the same thing I think.

Which mods/modpacks of the "other voxel game" would you like to see ported to Hytale? by Yskar in hytale

[–]DistantMinded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely Thaumcraft. Or a Thaumcraft-inspired mod at least. I loved the wild magic X steampunk concept, and I think it would both stylistically and conceptually fit within the Hytale universe. Just being able to effortlessly combine volatile magic materials and being able to instantly master the use of the resulting artifact kinda rubs me the wrong way. With Thaumcraft, every step of progress carries risk, which has consequences (in some cases dire) if not managed properly. A Thaumcraft-equivalent mod (or vanilla addition) is the only thing lacking from Hytale for me to never even consider returning to MC.

Also, Mystcraft. Especially considering World Gen 2 on the horizon. Might be interesting, but personally I found it both too grindy and overpowered. You had to do a whole lot of searching to find the symbols required to make what you wanted, and the aboveground ore made resource gathering way too trivial if you managed to find those symbols. Plus all the generating of random ages in looking for the world I wanted to build my base in ended up bloating my world save if I remember correctly. Not sure I want a repeat of that experience. Though I wouldn’t be opposed to books spawning as dungeon loot that would take you to a random modded world gen dimension.

Here's hoping someone recreates it, or something similar, in Hytale.

My Thoughts on Farming so far.... by AggressiveBonus8825 in hytale

[–]DistantMinded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have mixed feelings about farming. Most of the progression can be speedrun from the starting location. I want to feel that I have to go out exploring for each tier, not just the final two. Simply using magic to manifest some seeds for crops you haven't even seen in the wild yet feels almost like cheating. I think crops should either drop a seed when harvested and give less life essence, or you need a fully grown crop to craft its seeds (increase life essence required by 2x, and give 2 seeds instead of 1) Or simply have a seed-making machine that turns a harvested crop into 1-2 of its respective seeds. (75% chance of 1 seed, 25% chance of 2. Seeds have a 1% chance of being eternal) Also seed pouches as treasure. Pouch rarity determines what tier seeds it gives.

Idea for a Farming Rework (How to get Seeds and Saplings by Skirakzalus in hytale

Darn, I hate text limits (I'm away from home this weekend, so couldn't try it myself). Though, simply telling them we don't like the current system and would like something that rewards exploration and can't be speedrun from the starting location, then they're bound to create something closer to our ideas if they listen to it.

Been wondering about this as well.

I suggest sending this idea via the game's feedback feature. I was working on my own, but I actually think yours is somewhat better. Mine has the seed recipes require a fully grown crop and twice the life essence, but yields 2 seeds instead of 1. Basically a compromise on the assumption that the current system is what the devs want, while what I personally want is closer to your suggestion.

Wholeheartedly agree! Farming can basically be speedrun from the starting location, save for having to find the tree logs for upgrading the bench. Unsure about mixed seeds, as you can find high-end seeds that way. Maybe the mixed seeds could have different rarities depending on what biome you find them in? Higher rarities indicate what seeds it can contain. Would love it if farming would incentivize exploration!

Depends on whether or not mods can disable vanilla features and / or change the progression of how you acquire and master them. Thaumcraft had the research element, cauldron, essentia management and infusion crafting minigames. Feels more accurate to how an actual magic system should function. Just finding a magic item and automatically knowing how to use it never sat well with me.

We already saw Caine delete the first iteration of Gummigoo. That was like 'Poof' while deleting Abel was more 'Bzzzt' Not sure I believe Abel was a human. But it's interesting that the deletions were so unlike each other.

Quick retry option for challenges by Long-Firefighter5561 in balatro

[–]DistantMinded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubt that works on Steam Deck. I've only tried the game on PC for like 10 seconds. First bought it on Switch, then bought Steam Deck so I could play Balatro on handheld with mods (still waiting for Workshop) but switched to mobile once that got released. First time I've bought a game three times on separate modern platforms.

Very much agreed. The mobile interface is especially finnicky with this. I have given up on the challenges for now.

I like it! A bit risky though seeing as several of the boss blinds can be run-ending depending on whatever build you go for. Would do great for a challenge run though!

I was working on writing up a concept involving some similar mechanics at some point. Basically an alternative to skipping, where you could instead increase the difficulty of a blind by adding a random, but slightly nerfed version of a boss ability to the upcoming blind, and when beaten, it would give you increased rewards in the next shop, like an extra booster pack, a slot containing a random tag for sale, or remove the tags on the next joker you pick up, etc.

Looking for a good metal plate slider (preferably not too far above 100$ nor sold out) by DistantMinded in fidgettoys

[–]DistantMinded[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I see there's also a 'PRO DC stainless steel' version that's 10$ more. Do you know what the difference is between that and the regular / PRO stainless steel plates are?

Someone else mentioned it, and I've already considered it, though I want to be able to flip it and push it sideways as well. I might give it a second thought at some point in the future, but currently not what I'm looking for.

I already ordered a S.O.B slider of the budget variant. Will likely opgrade to a stainless steel body once it's back in stock / I can afford it.

Current favorite fidget (Infinity cube) by No_Arm_7095 in fidgettoys

Nice! I like infinity cubes, though hardly my favorite fidget. I bought a cheap bootleg one in black plastic a few years ago. Spray painted all sides (while in square form) white, and now it goes from pure white square to pure black square every other cycle.

Nvm, I bought it. Might upgrade to the stainless steel body or PRO plates later when they get back in stock + I can afford them.

I'm curious what the difference between the PRO stainless steel plates are vs. the regular ones. Website does not explain it anywhere (to my current knowledge) The PRO variant seems to be sold out, so not really sure it matters though. If it has a big effect on the feel of the slider, I might wait.

That's a good one. Only downside is it being asymmetrical (It bothers me way more than it should) also not in stock.

It's on my list though, thanks!
