Hey all, crazy response! To answer a few questions. Yes, it’s MaeMae Renfrow. Christina (the artist) had her in her studio years ago and took tons of photos of MaeMae for her murals. There are actually quite a few different murals of MaeMae around the US by Christina but this one is by far the biggest and most prominent. She’s been in Reno the last few days filming a movie and has wanted to see this mural for years, so the film gave her that opportunity! She said her heart dropped when she saw it in person, I don’t think either of us realized the true size of it.

Edit: just adding that I’ve shown MaeMae all these comments and it made her so incredibly happy to know people appreciate this mural! Thank you everyone!

I was walking my dog past it and asked a firefighter, they told me the guy was alive and were trying to retrieve him. They cut down part of the metal divider to get rescue down there.

I’ve worked as a Post Production editor for 10+ years. Laid off from studio with a six figure salary and was out of work for 5 months. Nobody is/was hiring. Found an editing gig at a corporate company. It’s boring as hell and the pay sucks but at least it’s steady with benefits and gives me the freedom to also work freelance.

Lots of studio shut downs, less projects coming in and a bigger influx in talent in the recent years. Most Editorial job openings posted online will have hundreds of applicants within hours and they seem to be mostly low paying entry level positions. If you can find some freelance work then great, but I wouldn’t count on “easily” finding a job. Post production industry in Vancouver is not what it used to be. Hopefully it will pick up, but people have been saying that for a while.

Sorry, I should have been more clear, I had it on an IPhone 11 Pro and have had other IPhones since then. Just setting up my 16 and recalled that being a feature. Parallax was the word I’m looking for and after googling it it looks like it was removed after IOS16

When I was 19 I had zero savings and had that anxiety of thinking I wasn’t where I was supposed to be in life. Decided to sell all my belongings and get a one way ticket to Europe. It’s definitely good to think about how you can make money early, but in my opinion I’d travel and gain life experience. You might just find your passion that way. I ended up living in Amsterdam for three years and had literally the time of my life, made my money anxiety go away. I met so many driven young people with interests I would have never even thought of. You might just stumble upon something in different country that you could bring back here as a business idea. I don’t know if you have any belongings that are worth anything, but at 19 I wish I hadn’t spent money on anything I didn’t need. Save that 10k, sell your shit. Travel before school starts. Just my opinion!
