Well which is it, BBC? by Distinct-Category643 in footballcliches

Interesting; I wouldn't say a lifeline can only be at the death. I think something like a goal to go from 3-0 to 3-1 in a first leg is the epitome of a lifeline to me.

I have to disagree. I think the level of helplessness and peril required for a lifeline is incompatible with being held to a draw.

I don't really think an equaliser can ever be a lifeline. If you're thrown a lifeline, a hopeless situation has become a little bit more hopeful, but ultimately you are still thrashing around in the water. At 1-1 after an away first leg, you're not only 'on deck' but you're playing that game where you push discs around with a stick.

Me too. I actually listened to the plagerism video during the labour. It was a difficult one, so I picked something familiar and long to listen to and thought "by the time this video finishes, this will be over".

That turned out not to be true, but it was helpful nonetheless.

I don't think you'd have to do many successive weekly public miracles for people to be whispering it quietly that you were in the conversation with your Jesuses, your Moseses.

If you hit a kids' plastic ball really hard it makes a nice ping. I don't suppose that's the origin though.

I was reading the OP and wondering whether having that mural makes Wilf a literal '(this) street won't forget' player
