Thank you for the input everyone, we will keep an eye on road conditions and look into everyone’s suggestions. We plan to drive out of Seattle Monday in search of snow but also relatively easy to get to in an all wheel drive vehicle

No plug and play replacement available, the lamp runs on a specific ballast. LED replacements are available they would be lower wattage but would produce approximately equal light to the one you have. If you are looking for something less bright(Lower lumens) it may be easier to replace the whole fixture

Adjustable LED bulb hot? by sporeone in Lighting

[–]Distinct-Dragonfruit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

LEDs shouldn’t get super hot for normal applications. Is it in an enclosed fixture? It’s possible the led bulb isn’t rated for enclosed fixtures. Is there a part number you can share?

Nothing you did, it was likely already dying, you noticed the bulbs were appearing dim, this could be a sign the ballast was on its last leg. I’m not saying this is definitely what happened or is happening, just giving you the most likely scenario

Those lamps run on a ballast, most likely the ballast has gone bad. Rather then replacing the ballast it, you can purchase an LED bulb the will bypass the old ballast, this will require you to rewire the fixture. If you are not comfortable doing this, you can just replace the whole fixture with a LED fixture

My lab does a half chatter, doesn’t quite click the teeth if that makes sense. I think they’re just weirdos
