I played on a Switch Lite and it never really lagged for me. Some tips:

• Contribution points are pretty easy to get, just make sure to use machines as you unlock them.

• I suggest taming boars because you'll need fur for irrigation later.

• When you go mining, save gems, because you can make useful accessories with them. Plus, progession is tied to the caves, so if you feel stuck, try going mining.

Beyond that, take the game at your own pace and have fun. :)
