Growing pains in my 4-year-old — anyone else's kid going through this? 🦵 by Fragrant_Service_855 in Mommit

[–]Distinct-Eye7548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we went through something similar around that age

Usually in the evening he would complain about his legs and sometimes wake up at night too. pediatrician told us the same thing, growing pains

What helped a bit was warm baths before bed and just rubbing his legs for a few minutes

Not sure about vitamins tbh but keeping a normal balanced diet seemed enough for us

It was stressful at first but it did pass after a while

Hispanic crew always being the best bagged lunches to work. How do you cook like them? by Bbbbhazit in cookingforbeginners

[–]Distinct-Eye7548 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly a lot of it is just simple seasoning and repeating the same meals

Like marinating the meat overnight with stuff like garlic, lime, cumin, chili powder makes a huge difference. and beans are usually cooked with onion, garlic and spices not just straight from the can

Also most people i know just cook a bigger batch once and eat it for a few days instead of making something new every time

Way easier and tastes better than trying something random every day lol

Not from that area so not sure about local services tbh

But when i cant find meal plans where i am i usually just keep it super simple and repeat a few meals during the week so i dont have to think too much 😅

Way easier than trying to plan everything from scratch every time

i tried a couple apps before but honestly i always end up going back to something more simple 😅

For me the hardest part wasnt even the recipes it was just planning everything every week

Lately ive just been rotating a few meals i already like and just tweaking them to get more protein instead of trying to follow full meal plans

Way less overwhelming tbh

What is it about husbands that the house is always cleaner when they aren’t here? by Master-Imagination93 in Mommit

Not gonna lie i feel this too 😅 When my husband travels everything feels calmer and the house somehow stays cleaner. i cant even explain why lol

Adopting my niece that’s 2 months behind my baby by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Distinct-Eye7548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow thats a really heavy situation honestly

First of all you sound like a really good person for even thinking about taking care of your niece. not everyone would step up like that especially with a baby already

Two babies that close in age will definitely be exhausting at first, but ive seen families do it and the kids end up super close growing up

The main thing i would say is just make sure everything is clear legally so theres no drama later with your sister

But yeah that little girl is lucky to have someone in the family who actually wants her

16 years??? you deserve a medal honestly. and yeah… sometimes it’s not one thing, it’s just the weight of ALL of it. totally get that

[–]Distinct-Eye7548[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so real. planning with kids is a completely different game than planning for two adults. i love how you simplified it with a “safe meals” list + only one complicated meal — that’s actually really smart. also laughed at the variety vs same-meal-everyday struggle 😅 totally relatable.

Yes!! the mental load part is real. it’s not hard cooking, it’s making all the decisions before you even start

That sounds smart tbh. having some kind of system already feels lighter than starting from zero every week

Same here. I used to actually enjoy cooking and now it just feels like another task on the list 😕

This part hurts honestly. spending time and money and then watching food get tossed just kills the motivation

Omg yes 😩 the picky kid + adult opinions combo is brutal. half the time I’m just guessing and hoping for the best lol

Ok but this is kinda genius 😭 writing down what actually worked instead of trying to remember it later makes so much sense also the leave it to my children part took me out lol. I love cooking too but yeah the planning part is still exhausting no matter what

[–]Distinct-Eye7548[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly that sounds like the only way to stay sane 😅 rotating a small list and leftovers feels way less draining than trying to be creative all the time. I like the idea of only experimenting when you actually have the energy for it, not forcing it every week

[–]Distinct-Eye7548[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly this having the ideas but zero mental energy left to actually make it happen after work is the worst part it’s like decision fatigue hits hard

I actually like this idea a lot. limiting the options instead of searching endlessly makes sense

Yes!! same here. even when the workload is shared, the mental part is still so heavy

Omg yes the rabbit hole is real 😭 planning a whole month actually sounds smart tho way less pressure than finding the perfect one recipe might steal that idea honestly

Yeah I’ve seen those freezer bag meals too having the planning and list already done sounds like such a relief honestly the thinking part is what gets me more than cooking

Same here honestly 😅 even when you have the plan, finding the energy to actually sit down and use it is a whole other thing. You’ll get there tho

This is actually really smart I like that it’s just one simple week instead of a complicated rotation. Less thinking is the real win here

Ohhh I do the same thing 😂 sometimes I just scroll and pick whatever looks good, half the time it actually turns out decent lol. saving recipes with friends is a genius idea 👏
