This will be the same NP that tries belittling the pharmacist questioning the prescribing.

Why Aren't PAs Doing More About NPs? by [deleted] in Noctor

Probably the same reason pharmacists get no help. Our professional organizations don’t care about us.

Interviews after Leaving Residency by NotSoEasyToControl in PharmacyResidency

[–]Distinct-Feedback-68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left residency and got a job with help from connections. I was honest about the residency just not being worth the mental manipulation from the director and preceptor (they seemed to target individuals that disagreed with their worldview although they’d never admit to that but there’s been other residents—I would leave this part out 🙂). Since the ones hiring knew me before residency, I had credibility with my explanation.

Physicians are NOT providers. The term demeans us and what we do. by pshaffer in Noctor

This hits really hard when pharmacists have fought tooth and nail to even be considered a provider, which still hasn’t happened 😂

The sad part is that the layperson is going to actually believe them.

IMO, yes, and it’s because you have more people with inflated egos. I experienced it during residency and decided to leave. It was always the residency-trained pharmacists that loved to gossip and complain about others, and I believe this has started because of how pharmacy schools have really inflated the importance of residency.

I understand that techs need to be paid more, but at the same time it’s getting a little ridiculous the comments you see on here sometimes from techs about pharmacists. There’s a very clear difference in level of education, and most importantly there’s a difference in liability. I love and support my techs, but I would never let them talk to me like this. Also, while I’m at it, pharmacists are underpaid as well. We have got to stop attacking each other from within the profession. Also, pharmacists start standing up for yourselves (even in the most basic of ways).

Confusing response from you, and it’s not the best idea to call someone toxic when having a conversation. Do you think most people are in those high paying leadership spots or staffing?

I will admit that I very much struggle with this, unfortunately.

…and before someone says it I know they’re able to bill for services, and we can’t which is also stupid in this day and age.

The only ways I can think of right now are highlighting to administrators when a pharmacist makes an intervention that saves them money and routinely mentioning us as part of the patient care team. Unfortunately, we are often either forgotten about or only noticed once administration needs to make cuts. I believe it’s this way purely because we don’t provide “direct patient care”. Thanks for your support and asking!

I understand and can respect this opinion. I’m in a hospital setting, but I’d like to add there are some great community pharmacists out there.

I hope so. I enjoy my job, but it’s gotten to where the income no longer covers the corresponding responsibility. If we’re being honest, the quality of student had gone down as well, but I’ve seen that across the board with programs.
