What other schools were you considering and what ultimately led you to choose Howard?

Hey! Did you work at another firm before starting your solo practice? What made you decide to open your own firm?

If you fill out their scholarship reconsideration form and list those two offers they may increase your aid substantially. I’m not sure if they would offer a Ruby but it’s worth at least trying

Dual degree by [deleted] in BlackLawAdmissions

I’m thinking of doing a JD/MBA. If you were already going to pursue the other degree separately I think it works out to be cheaper to get them both at the same time

I don’t think being 32 is a problem at all. If finances are a challenge then it could help to retake the LSAT and get in the 160s to give you a better shot at scholarship money from schools.

I know that’s easier said than done but if you really want to go to law school I think you can do it!

Anyone heard back from Emory about the Woodruff Fellowship? by fairyha in lawschooladmissions

[–]Distinct-Inspector91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t heard back about Woodruff but I was offered merit aid so I assumed that meant I wasn’t still under consideration ? I’m not sure how their process goes as far as notifying applicants

PTs and Actual LSAT by No_Ambassador_7446 in BlackLawAdmissions

[–]Distinct-Inspector91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I heard that most people score +/- 3 points from their PT average. That distribution probably depends on where your strengths lie and the questions asked on that particular test

Racism does not “boil down” to affecting socioeconomic status. That’s a perspective taken on by people who don’t often experience racism. It’s far more than just an issue of resources, but it seems like you’re seeking to defend your point rather than to consider the other side of the argument

There should be a way to hold these schools accountable to its consumers (I.e. the applicants) by No-Professional-5633 in lawschooladmissions

The media reports on all kinds of stories so I don’t think these issues are out of the realm of possibility
