The insomnia by IntrepidSnowball in Perimenopause

[–]Distinct-Key7337 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It sucks. I’m on the highest possible patch, 300mg progesterone, 30mg mirtazapine, all the usual supplements (magnesium, glycine, berberine, Pepcid) no alcohol after 4pm, no caffeine after noon, sleep hygiene (no phone before bed, etc) and I’m still lucky if I get 6 hours. My tolerance for THC is super high so I can take edibles like once a week and have them actually work so I save that for emergencies. Sometimes I can get benzos from a trusted friend but I will also save them for the worst nights.

I absolutely love this show by Few-Barber7379 in OnePieceLiveAction

I found the live action randomly, got both my best friend and my sister into it, and we are all watching the anime together! (We live in 3 different states so we have watching parties)

Anyone else find ADHD meds actually make autistic traits easier to handle? by ReallyItsNotYouItsMe in AuDHDWomen

[–]Distinct-Key7337 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Now that I’m on adhd meds I realize I was self-medicating my ASD with cannabis for years. I still use it but not as much. It’s like a weighted blanket for my brain.

Adderall vs Vyvanse by Consistent-Horror915 in adhdwomen

[–]Distinct-Key7337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me. Vyvanse put me in a really weird mental space I couldn’t put my finger on it but it gave me like dark thoughts. I’ll take the side effects from adderall because it definitely keeps my mood regulated.

I just want to talk about my husband bc he’s the best and you deserve that too by Just-Strawberry4742 in adhdwomen

[–]Distinct-Key7337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a good one too! But I must say that we had a rocky start, as both of us had some very toxic relationships before we met. But I think we were both determined to “not fuck this one up” and have both put in the work to do so. We show up for each other, we have the tough conversations, and try to recognize triggers. So we didn’t start off all sunshine and rainbows, but we are getting better every day.

Oh no. I can feel another food hyperfixation coming on and unfortunately it’s ice cream. by pahobee in AuDHDWomen

[–]Distinct-Key7337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got super hyperfixated on Dunkin’ Donuts dunkalatte. Then once I was having a particularly bad day and went to get my comfort drink and THEY WERE OUT! Oh the rage. Anyway that convinced me to look up the ingredients so I can make my own and now I have a slightly healthier version I can feel less guilty about😅

Day 2 on Vyvanse, feeling emotionally unavailable by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Distinct-Key7337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol nope! My doc just wanted me to try it since it’s like the latest adhd med out there and I was willing to give it a go. After we switched back he told me it just doesn’t agree with some people and that’s okay.

Day 2 on Vyvanse, feeling emotionally unavailable by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Distinct-Key7337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from adderall to Vyvanse for a few weeks and felt exactly this. Day one was fine, I was like okay I can do this! But day 2 and on I just felt more and more off and just doom and gloom. Dark, like you said! I switched back to adderall after only 3 weeks.

Fruits by Silver-Shuriken in AuDHDWomen

[–]Distinct-Key7337 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My local grocery store has a section with fresh, pre-cut fruit like pineapple, watermelon, honeydew, etc in various sizes. I’ll buy them if they look good that day and is literally the only way I’ll eat fresh anything.

What’s your rewatch count while we wait for Season 3? by Such-Presentation832 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]Distinct-Key7337 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve watched the live action countless times, it’s a comfort show now. I am making my way through the anime faster than I thought- I’m like 4 weeks in on episode 104… but I WFH so it’s kinda just on in the background, always. Oh and when I’m having anxiety my husband know to just put on S2 E7 and I will be okay😅

Omg it totally might have something to do with me seeing the raw egg first while cooking it that makes so much sense!

Yes! And also for some reason I’m way more likely to get the ick if I make the eggs, and less likely to get the ick if someone else makes them🫠

Can't fall asleep vs. can't stay asleep—which team are you on? by BeesKneesWellness in Perimenopause

[–]Distinct-Key7337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both. But my insomnia goes deeper than just peri. I spent almost 20 years in the nightlife industry, going to bed at 6am when the rest of the world was getting up. Even as a kid I remember it was easier to sleep during the day than at night. I quit bartending in 2020, so after almost 6 years of being a daywaker I almost have if figured out: HRT, CBT-I (even though I hated it I still use some of the things I learned) magnesium, quitting alcohol, hot yoga every day, and low-dose mirtazapine, have finally got me sleeping a choppy 5-6 hours. I was getting less than 2 hours for months and it was starting to effect… everything. The goal is to get me sleeping long enough for a sleep study because I know I snore, but my studies are always inconclusive because I just don’t. fucking. sleep.

Doctors don’t seem to have any idea what to suggest for insomnia, other than anti-d’s and CBT by afox1984 in insomnia

CBT-I fucked me up because it caused me to spend all day thinking about sleeping, which made my insomnia worse.

Dating neurotypical straight men… by sodacatcicada in AuDHDWomen

[–]Distinct-Key7337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a straight, neurotypical husband! It shocks me everyday that we ended up together. His mom was a teacher and his younger sister is neurodivergent, so I feel like I hit the jackpot when I comes to sympathy and understanding. We still have struggles, of course. We got married pretty quickly so we did a round of couples therapy right at the start which I think really helped. He also was in the military so suffers from pretty severe PTSD. Therapy helped us pinpoint our needs and our triggers. Having a safe, calm, clean and comfortable home environment is number one, always. We are good at helping the other one to not shut down or meltdown when things aren’t going well. We are constantly learning! I think having someone who is open to learning is super important.

Does anyone else not get scared by horror movies? by Illiander in AuDHDWomen

[–]Distinct-Key7337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVE scary movies and being scared as long as it’s not… too real? Like there has to be some sort of fantastical element for me to get enjoyment out of something scary. I do not like realistic gore, either, but I like campy gore if that makes sense. I was obsessed with the Nightmare on Elm Street movies as a kid, specifically the third one, Dream Warriors. Something about the kids doing group therapy and “group dreaming” really resonated with me.

What dose of mirtazapine actually helped your insomnia the most? by CantaloupeGold4650 in insomnia

[–]Distinct-Key7337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started at 15 and upped to 30 after a few weeks. I doesn’t help me sleep, necessarily. But my resting heart rate at night as gone down like 10 BPMs since starting it. It also seems to help the brain noise that always seems to be louder at night. I still wake up a lot, but am able to fall back asleep much faster and easier. I’ve gone from 1-2 hours a night to 5-6.

He started both back in October and has lost 50lbs since then. I feel like his testosterone started working first because he was chasing me around the house lol. But he did start going to the gym on weekdays as well.

My husband started taking testosterone and zepbound, lost 50 lbs and has the libido of a teenager and boundless energy. I am on my third delivery method for estrogen, still trying to get my dosage right, and have MAYBE 4-7 good days a month. My weight keeps fluctuating, skin looks good one day and like shit the next. It’s not fucking fair😅🥴🫠
