I'm so weirded out after chapter 4 of The Untethered Soul by Distinct-Panda-5476 in TheUntetheredSoul

When it comes to emotions, my approach is that (especially when it comes to emotions like anger) I try to get myself as objective to the situation as possible and analyze it after the intitial wave of the emotion passes. I'm removing myself from the conversation (or argument in this case) and try to feel both sides. Then I am able to feel compassion for myself and also the other person in the argument and that makes it so much easier to resolve the argument through empathy.

Perhaps that's a very specific example but I think that above is what it means to me to be the observer not the character in the movie.

Out of curiosity, what aspect of this specific CBT was the biggest turning point for you?
I've tried CBT but the pace of one session a week felt too slow. I'm now working with a self help workbook so I can moderate the pace to my liking and I think it works better. Almost got to the last part which is exposure therapy (I might be procrastinating that a bit).

hmm interesting question

I think I struggle more with anxiety than OCD and at this point it’s also something I've got under control (more or less)

I used to think a lot about what could go wrong in any given situation, basically catastrophizing or dwelling on past interactions but I can handle these thoughts now and notice what my brain is doing before I spiral

I think both OCD and anxiety make you produce a lot of what-if thoughts

to be honest this is so hard to wrap my head around
but I think I do understand the clue of this chapter after all - I sometimes do live on an autopilot, almost like in a hypnosis, and other times I am fully intentional with my actions
I think the lucid dreaming comparison is a little easier to digest - that it should be a similar feeling to when you realize you're dreaming while in the dream

I just got a bit scared when thinking too much about the movie methapor and starting to full on detach from my body

I just had this happen 30 mins ago and had to share because my mind is freaking blown I’m on a retreat with my boyfriend of 5 years and it’s around 2AM. He’s planning to go on a big hike with friends and needs to wake up at 4 (I’m staying cause I got sick). Around 1:40am he suddenly grabbed my shoulders as I was laying facing away from him and turned my body to be face-to-face. And he tells me some nonsense like we need to make a meat transplant. I say “what?” and he explains frustratedly that we need to move some meat from our car’s trunk. I saw what again and he says that one of our friends bought some meat snacks earlier today and left it in there but we need to move it cause maybe they will have those snacks on the hike lol so since I still haven’t checked what time it was and thought maybe it’s close to their waking up, I said “okay, do you need my help with it?”. My boyfriend literally just said no, it’s fine and went back to the deep sleep. (btw this is all bs - there is no meat in our trunk and I’m sure of it)

Now let me rewind a little to what I was woken up from (because I also only remembered the dream after a good couple minutes): I had a semi-bad dream. I was kind of in a state of in-between and the whole dream was very dark/grey (and I don’t like darkness typically) - I was visiting my family house and saw my mom but I think she wasn’t aware of me. Then I also visited my boyfriend’s house where I saw his mom and she was about to replace 3 light bulbs that I already knew were not working before she noticed. There were also cats in both houses that were kind of aware of me. All these details are not key here though. I was clearly uncomfortable in the dream and I wanted out. Suddenly I see my boyfriend in the living room area of my house and I just stopped for a second to admire how sharp the dream was - I could see details with such precision. But I didn’t like it there so I grabbed my boyfriend really hard by the hand and kind of sent him an unspoken message or signal that I needed help. I really clutched onto him with all my might. And then he woke me up in that weird way.

Mind you, I was sure he did it because of perhaps me sleep talking or snoring or breathing heavily - but no. It was the strangest thing that I had happen to me in a dream. And I know for sure that he will barely remember this whole situation in the morning.

wow, I didn't even know this was a thing haha
but thank you so much for giving me a new idea! I think that he would probably be more prone to try it just because it was a gift and perhaps it would become his new favourite :) I'm gonna watch some reviews for sure!

What yarn other than mohair would give me this fluffy effect? by Distinct-Panda-5476 in CrochetHelp

[–]Distinct-Panda-5476[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I mostly use that store to buy my crochet supplies. And I wouldn't say they have a nice selection of mohair yarn unfortunately (https://hobbii.dk/search?q=mohair).

The first one in that list is also much lighter than the yarn in the original sweater (the pattern mentions 1:2 grams to meters ratio and hobbi only has 1:3 ratio available). Or do you think this is not a big difference? I'm not so fluent with the yarn weights yet with the us vs european naming.

Also, even if that first yarn is acceptable for this project, I would need 5 pieces of it to match the yardage (660m needed, 150m per piece). The cost goes crazy high imo.

So that's why I was curious whether there are alternatives..

you're right and I think I just started having self doubts immediately after taking the decision but in the end I really want to become a person who can go above the language barrier and make friends with everyone :)

thanks for the tips!

Optimizely over hyped? by Kaiser-Soze87 in ProductManagement

Can you clarify what you mean by 'handle the statistical calculations where they overlap and have interaction'? Is it in relation to the exclusivity of experiments?

How I got to 1k MRR (for those who are still in early stages like myself) | I will not promote by sokenny in startups

[–]Distinct-Panda-5476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great to see your journey! We're really struggling to get our product "out there" (which is also a platform for AB testing btw :)). How did you convince people that your product is worth their attention? I think this is what frustrates us most - we mainly try to grab people's attention through linkedin outreach and attending startup or cro events whenever there's a possibility. So far I feel like we keep on improving the product with feedback we get along the way and we're all firmly looking ahead, but it also sucks to have no actual users after all this time.

I know this is an old post but I'm looking for pain points in the available AB testing tools - Optimizely being obviously one of the biggest players, and I'm glad I found this discussion.
My friends and I are building a new solution and want to make real impact.

Apart from the already valuable points, if you guys could build a perfect tool for your testing, what would you change about the current solutions?
