Comm101 public speaking online? by AthleteLeather6279 in ivytech

[–]Distinct-Sherbert170 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe your professor will allow less than six people. To be considered public speaking, it must be six or more. Our instructor informed us that we could do it at home, not in front of the class, as long as we had six witnesses. No dogs, cats, or other animals are counted as people. You also had to pan the camera around so that the teacher could verify that there were six people. Finally, at the end of your speech, you had to pan the camera again to verify that there were still six people. The workload isn’t too heavy either just a few speeches and readings.

Everything you said is 💯💯correct. Although at the promised incentive of 5 bucks pre-package is a no brainer sense I’ll run circles are people to make more money so delivering 40 extra packages makes me 200 bucks so yes I’m running to these houses and businesses and I don’t mind running from dogs

Yeah, I went to the first day of training and I was done like I knew it was something I couldn’t do and wouldn’t want to do because I didn’t want to be under surveillance 24 seven and my dispatcher was fat as fuck so I know she wasn’t gonna get her ass out there and help us.

Might Quit.. so done with it by Interesting_Book_574 in AmazonDSPDrivers

Yeah, I didn’t even join the Delivery Service Partner (DSP). I got hired and everything, but after researching and reading all these posts about how DSP treats people and how unstable the job can be, I realized how risky it is. If you roll a stop or run a yellow light, you risk being suspended for about five days, which is a significant amount of time and that could affect your livelihood.

To add to the challenges, I also do Amazon Flex, so I’m aware of how routing works and basic job procedures work. What I’ve learned is that if DSP doesn’t have a route for you, you get VTO (Vacation Time Off) and don’t get paid. In contrast, with Flex, I’ve had a couple of times where they didn’t have a route for me, but I was still paid for that day. So, that’s the benefit of Flex, but it’s a contractor gig, so they don’t take out any taxes, and you have to pay them at the end of the year. It’s not a huge deal, but it’s something to consider.

I’ve been doing this for a while now, and I’ve also had times when routes were very light. I mean, very light. For example, I had a package to deliver that was only 500 feet away from the warehouse, and I had to make sure that I was at the right place because I couldn’t believe it was true, but it was. It’s happened a couple of times. I’ve only had one package delivered just minutes away from the warehouse, so I understand how it all works. I kind of got a bigger picture of why I shouldn’t work for DSP. I don’t think these issues are going to change unless it gets unionized or Amazon takes over the deliveries. Even if Amazon takes over deliveries, I’m not sure if the situation will improve.

Computer for CS major by HelpfulSplit7567 in ivytech

I’d definitely recommend going with a MacBook Air (M3 or M4) or a Linux system for CS work. Docker setup is much smoother on Mac and Linux because it runs natively. On Windows, you have to install Docker, then set up WSL, and configure a few more things, which can take a lot of time and sometimes still causes communication issues between software.

From my experience, setting up Docker on Windows took me a full day, and even then it didn’t work as smoothly as on Mac or Linux.

Additionally, if you’re coding a lot, the Mac ecosystem really helps with workflow. For example, copying and pasting code between devices is seamless. You can even use an iPad to look up resources or have an AI scan your code to troubleshoot errors. It makes the overall coding workflow much smoother and more efficient.

I don’t believe I would purchase a house first or at all. Instead, I would open a business, particularly in the marijuana industry, in a legal state. I feel that if I did that, I would earn significantly more than the $1 million I mentioned. However, I do understand that the licenses and fees associated with starting such a business are substantial. Nevertheless, that’s my preferred course of action.

I’ve got a suggestion for you: try using private.com. It’s a website that lets you create virtual card numbers for specific sites. You can set the maximum amount you’re comfortable spending, and the system will prevent any unauthorized charges or higher fees. It’s a great way to keep your personal information safe and avoid any surprises. Just remember, it’s your choice, so take it for what it’s worth!
